Description of the job Are you a passionate CAD designer who has commercial Design Office Drawing Office experience? Are you looking to work on interesting on detailed designs? Looking to design products that will go into space? Interested in either learning or furthering your CATIA skills? Then this is the role for you! As a Design Engineer you will be producing all the necessary design office tasks on specific projects so that the Mechanical Design Office can contribute to delivering the project on time, on cost, on schedule and on quality. You will be joining a Project team of up to 5 people who are part of dept of 70 and MDO Group of 20. We are looking for someone with CAD or CATIA experience and we are happy to train you into CATIA V6. Tasks accountabilities The production of drawings, models, assembly models, Bill of Materials, Engineering Change Notes, emails, memos related to the Configured items for the allocated projects as delegated by the Lead DO Engineer. The control, configuration, correctness, accuracy and relevance of all drawings, models, Assembly Models, DMU model, VPM models, Bill of Materials and Engineering Change notes related to the Configured Items for the allocated projects to cost, schedule and quality as specified by the Lead DO Engineer. All the project D.O. outputs must be self checked and signed to the checklists and CATIA procedures. These outputs are to be recorded through the DO Task Sheets. Support to other general DO activities i.e. process improvements, bid etc. This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Companys success, reputation and sustainable growth. Required skills CAD experience, we are happy to train to V6 level Commercial experience in designing structure components and assemblies that are optimized in terms of weight, cost, performance, production assembly requirements while highest safety of the Product is assured using appropriate design tools. Description of the job Are you a Materials Engineer with commercial experience in Materials and Processes? Have you worked on projects specialising on Longterm reliability vehicles spacecraft, automotive, aerospace? Are you interested in working on Materials and Processes that are used for the manufacture of Airbus spacecraft? Then this is the role for you! A vacancy for a Materials Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence Space to work on the design, manufacture and testing of space flight hardware in Stevenage. Were looking for a Materials Engineer with extensive knowledge and experience of materials metallic, nonmetallics and organics who will provide technical leadership from Materials and Processes perspective throughout the life cycle of the satellite. You will act as the final MP interface with shop floor, Project Team and with end Customer. Materials Project Engineers focus on providing project related MP support and expertise. We provide support to Telecoms projects and Earth Observation Navigation and Science projects. Projects include ExoMars Rover, Solar Orbiter and Biomass. In the department of approximately 15 engineers we work on materials qualifications, interface with customers such as the European Space Agency, suppliers, resolve nonconformances and support project related developments. As the technical support provided could be related to any part of the spacecraft, a broad understanding of materials and processes is required for this role. Tasks accountabilities Provide leadership in the choice of Materials and Processes MP to the Project Team. Act as technical authority for the qualification of materials and processes review of qualification test plansreports and interpretation of data. Lead Materials and Process Review Boards MPCB for all equipments and subsystems comprising a satellite with lower tier suppliers, subcontractors and the end Customer. Provide MP leadership to the Project Team at various Project review milestones Spacecraft level PDR, CDR, QAR etc.. Act as the final interface on behalf of Project Team in terms of MP with the final Customer. Support MP related RD activities. Compile database of qualified Materials and Processes used in the manufacture of satellite. Required skills Indepth knowledge and commercial experience in materials science. Knowledge of reasons for choosing MP for spaceaerospace applications. Demonstrable skill for conducting qualification test programmes for specific applications. Demonstrable experience of various joining methods welding, soldering, brazing, adhesive bonding. Working knowledge of surface treatmentsfinishes plating, painting, anodising. Experience of managing supplierssubcontractors from MP perspective. Proven written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems structure panels, propulsion systems, avionics, thermal subsystems, communication subsystem, Antennae, Solar Array etc. would be an advantage. Your Materials Engineering knowledge properties and applications of a wide range of metallic and nonmetallic materials will also be sought in the identification of new materials and processes for future applications. Specific Tasks The TECQEC Radiation Effects Engineer reports to the head of the Component Space Evaluation and Radiation Effects Section. The main duties include Providing support to the Agencys Projects in the field of EEE component Radiation Hardness Assurance Preparing and conducting radiation tests campaigns including developing test setup and subsequent data analysis with emphasis on TID, DD and SEE on EEE components, test structures and materials in support of Agencys projects, studies, evaluation, qualification or radiation hardening activities defining relevant radiation studies, experimental and development activities also including in flight component radiation characterisation experiments to initiate and manage such activities implemented under ESA contracts Supporting the sections standardisation activities, particularly those involving general Radiation Hardness Assurance procedures, irradiation test guidelines SEE, TID and Displacement Damage, modelling and simulation issues conducting simulations of radiation effects in components and materials using suitable device physics based SWtools and to produce new or improve existing models coordinating such activities with internal and external partners and promoting the results achieved in the form of publications, presentations and training to be provided Requirements .
