Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of the Technology Directorate at ESTEC, you will have the following responsibilities Providing expert technical support in Propulsion for Spacecraft chemical propulsion and for Launchers liquid and solid propulsion Supporting the activities for studies, experimental investigations and engineering developments in spacecraft and launcher propulsion components, equipment, subsystems, systems Supporting the activities for studies, experimental investigations and engineering developments in advanced propulsion components, equipment, subsystems, systems, such as nuclear propulsion, solarthermal upper stages, Airbreathing Propulsion, Advanced Chemical Systems, MEMS etc Support to Agency feasibility and project definition studies, preparatory programmes and approved projects in the field of chemical propulsion Participation in the definition and execution of the Agencys technology programmes Assessment and development of chemical propulsion novel propulsion concepts e.g. Nuclear and Airbreathing technologies, advanced propulsion methods, processes and concepts Configurationsystem design of chemical propulsion systems including the initiation of appropriate critical technology developments Establishment and promotion of design and engineering standards. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering with emphasis in space propulsion Proven experience in the design, development andor testing of chemical propulsion systems andor components for spacecraft andor launcher applications A good knowledge of other specialist technological areas involved in space propulsion i.e. materials, thermal, mechanical would also be desirable Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Position Reference 065 You will have the opportunity to provide Quality Assurance support to the OPSQ office. You will be familiarised with OPSQ and the assigned missions, in particular with the procedures and tools that are needed to perform the PAQA operations. For our activities at ESAESOC, we are currently seeking to employ a highly motivated and enthusiastic Product Assurance and Safety Engineer to provide Quality Assurance support to the OPSQ office. Tasks and Activities Major activities of the PA process to be covered Planning and keep uptodate the PA activities in support to the team output PA Plan and PA Work Packages. Monitoring the compliance of the team to applicable standards and customer requirements output PA KPIs, nonconformance management, corrective and preventive actions. Organise and conduct the management of anomalies and problems in each team output problem management, corrective and preventive actions. Organise and conduct the management of configurations and changes within each team output configuration management, baselines. Define and monitor the implementation of the rules for document production by the team output documentation management. Solicit the identification of improvements by the team output lessons learned. In particular the following tasks are highlighted Configure and maintain the PA quality tools to specifically support the missions. Organise and conduct the Freeze in view of critical operations. Stimulate the regular assessment of risks and reflect the update in the relevant risk register. Stimulate the collection of lessons learned after each major milestone. Survey document production by the team and provide quality review of documents on request.
