Overview Provide expertise in the field of Support to Earth Observation projects in the field of microwave active and passive remote sensing of natural surfaces land and sea and of atmosphere wave interaction, data processing, retrieval algorithms and performance assessment. Support to internal activities and projects in the field of microwave propagation in the atmosphere theoretical and empirical modelling, and related analysis of impact on telecom, navigation or data downlink for Earth Observation and Space Exploration missions. RD in related fields. Support to the experimental facility. Specific Qualification Requirements The candidateshall have ademonstrated background and experience in EEE component technologies in terms of constituent materials, production technology, test equipment, test tools, test methods and standards industrial and standardisation bodies, laboratory techniques, laboratory equipment, laboratory work and procedures including common health and safety regulations and in particular those related to Radiation Testing. PhD or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related specialization. Background in the physics andor engineering of microwave interaction with natural environment. Experience with microwave remote sensing observation concepts. Experience with microwave atmosphere propagation models. Good programming skills. Previous experience with experimental instruments e.g. ground microwave radiometers is considered an asset. Proactive attitude to solving problems. Good organisational skills. A very good working knowledge of spoken and written English isessential. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Overview Provide expertise in the field of Provide support to the Space Component Evaluation and Radiation Effects Section for the preparation and implementation of environmental and reliability tests of EEE components in accordance with established standards and laboratory procedures. Support the update and definition of new relevant test standards, test methods, laboratory procedures and ancillary documentation as required. The implementation and configuration of radiation test setups hardware and software for radiation effects testing e.g. Total Ionising Dose Co60, Single Event Effects, Displacement Damage, etc. of components, test structures or electronic assemblies. The support of radiation tests performed in ESTEC or external radiation facilities. The support of radiation test data analysis and result reporting. The support of activities related to the development, implementation and verification of radiation monitors, instruments and inorbit technology test beds radiation flight experiments. The provision of expert support concerning national and international regulations applicable to the operation of radiation sources for research purposes. The support of administrative activities in terms of site safety and security matters concerning internal radiation test facilities, document handling distribution, archiving, etc. and such related to the maintenance of the radiation effects test report database and internet homepage. Support to ISO accreditation accreditation activities of the 60Co and CASE facility.
