Spun polyester prices are now falling in China, in line with the return of polyester staple fiber prices to lower levels. Yarn import prices are more competitive with demand for foreign yarns recovering. Cotton yarn imports have surged from Uzbekistan, as reflected by our May import data. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose, and blends. Import prices are also available for cotton yarns. Domestic and import yarn prices are compared. Spun yarn prices have continued declining in the last seven days in India, with a sharp drop being observed for the past four weeks, as a result. In the meantime, fiber prices have not moved on the domestic market, with gross margins therefore falling at spinning mills. Our weekly review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester, and 100% viscose. Major yarn production centers are covered with Tirupur (Tamil Nadu), Bhiwandi (Maharashtra) and Ludhiana (Punjab).
