Cotton prices have further plunged at the end of last week in New York, reflecting massive selling by speculative funds. Prices are not expected rebounding in the next season, due to a recovery of global production. In China, demand remains anemic, further depressing domestic prices. Prices are much more resisting in India and Pakistan. Our weekly cotton report covers the international futures market in New York and China, and the physical indicator "A Index". Domestic cotton prices in China, India and Pakistan are also reviewed through a large number of tables and charts. All data are available for download.

Polyester-cotton yarn prices have been lowered in the last seven days in India whereas cotton yarn prices and other products have behaved differently, according to our price survey. The level of available cotton in India could have been underestimated, in addition. Our weekly review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester and 100% viscose. Major yarn production centers are covered with Tirupur (Tamil Nadu), Bhiwandi (Maharashtra) and Ludhiana (Punjab). Yarn prices are compared with fiber prices offering latest trends of spinners' margins.

Spun yarn prices could now further decline in Bangladesh after cotton and polyester prices have sharply dropped in the past weeks. Yarn prices have continuously fallen in the past 12 months over a new rise of domestic capacities and an illegal use of consigned yarn imports on the domestic market. Our monthly report covers Bangladeshi yarn prices, including cotton carded, cotton organic, melange, carded slub, cotton-polyester 60/40, cotton-polyester 40/60 and open end. Yarn prices are now falling across the board in China, over a sharp decline of fiber prices, including cotton, polyester and viscose. Yarn processors are waiting for the end of the price decline, further pressuring prices as a result, amid surging yarn inventories at spinning mills. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for cotton yarns. Domestic and import yarn prices are compared.
