For one of our clients we are currently looking for a Design Engineer for their location in Bremen, Germany. Our client is one of the top players in the European space technology industry offering solutions for satellites, scientific payloads and aerospace aviation structures. The company is currently working on major European satellite development and manufacturing programs. For one of these programs you will be working on the development, configuration and design of satellite structures. For this role we are searching for people who oversee the big picture without missing important details and who are capable to act smoothly and swiftly. This is a seriously inspiring challenge, where you will work in different teams, with likeminded professionals, developing solutions to exciting problems. Tasks and Responsibilities Develop different satellite configurations and the corresponding subsystem accommodation Coordination of the design with the project team Prepare the relevant configuration and accommodation drawings Agreement of the requirements with customers and subcontractors Develop and design satellite structures Prepare the related fabrication documents and instructions Prepare documentation such as design and interface descriptions Oversee, supervise and manage subcontractors and suppliers Monitoring the assembly, integration and testing work on the satellite Present the results of your work to the customer. Experience and education Master degree in Mechanical Engineering Minimal four years of experience with as a design engineer ideally in the area of satellite technology Extensive experience with the use of 3D CAD systems, preferably Unigraphics NX or CATIA Confident in negotiations with customers Flexible and able to swiftly work your way into new duties Willingness to travel Fluent in English and preferably German. You will join the Design Office of the Mechanical Design Office MDO entity, where you will participate in the fitting and layout design work on satellites and manage the interfaces of the various assemblies and subassemblies. You will be in charge of the products DMU Digital MockUp and ensure full consistency of all the models and the correct integration of the subassemblies. You will also be responsible for supplying the input data to the integration teams. Your main responsibilities will include managing the DMU, validating the 3D models, establishing the specifications for subcontractors and checking the models received, managing the fittinglayout studies, checking for clashes, checking for compliance with the applicable layout restrictions proximity, field of view, etc., managing the DMU inputoutput data, managing the schedule and the resources for the successful conclusion of the programme, organising the fittinglayout teams to best meet the requirements, ensuring the availability of resources with the section manager if necessary, organising and hosting the DMU reviews with the various activities, and monitor any actions, ensuring full compliance with the schedule and major programme milestones, assessing the workload, anticipating any deviations from the defined costsschedule, and raising the alert in the event of overrun, reporting on your project, making proposals to change processes and tools in order to optimise and improve our service. You will have a 5year degree in engineering or aerospace and will have a first proven experience in Mechanics andor Thermals within a space environment. The knowledge of Catia V5 preferably of the VPM environment will be essential to success in this position. You have a team spirit, are team serviceoriented with considerable communication skills and availability, you are also capable of seeing the bigger picture and are meticulous, adaptable and capable of integration in a transnational team.
