000 ABPZ20 KNHC 062303 TWOEP Tropical Weather Outlook NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 500 PM PDT Sat Oct 6 2018 For the eastern North Pacific...east of 140 degrees west longitude: The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane Sergio, located a little more than 1100 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula. A broad and weak low pressure system is moving farther inland over central Honduras and surface pressures continue rise along the Pacific coast. Therefore, tropical cyclone formation is not forecast to occur in the eastern North Pacific basin. However, widespread showers and thunderstorms containing heavy rainfall are expected to continue for the next few days across western Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, and the coast of Guatemala, producing flash floods across much of Central America and causing mudslides in areas of mountainous terrain. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...low...near 0 percent. $$ Forecaster Stewart

Satellite and surface observations indicate that the low pressure area that was over the far eastern Pacific Ocean has moved inland over Central America and further development of this system is not expected. These rains are expected to continue across portions of Central America for the next few days, resulting in flash floods and mudslides in areas of mountainous terrain. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...low...near 0 percent. $$ Forecaster Brown

000 ABPZ20 KNHC 061143 TWOEP Tropical Weather Outlook NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 500 AM PDT Sat Oct 6 2018 For the eastern North Pacific...east of 140 degrees west longitude: The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane Sergio, located a little more than 1000 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula. Showers and thunderstorms associated with an area of low pressure along the coast of Central America extend from Guatemala to Nicaragua. Recent satellite imagery and ship observations indicate that the disturbance has not become any better organized since yesterday, and close proximity to land is expected to limit the potential for tropical cyclone formation. However, heavy rains will continue across western Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala through early next week, resulting in flash floods and mudslides in mountainous areas of those countries. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...low...10 percent. $$ Forecaster Zelinsky

000 ABPZ20 KNHC 060520 TWOEP Tropical Weather Outlook NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 1100 PM PDT Fri Oct 5 2018 For the eastern North Pacific...east of 140 degrees west longitude: The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane Sergio, located almost 1000 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula. An area of low pressure located just offshore from El Salvador is producing a cluster of showers and thunderstorms that extend along and just off the coast from Guatemala to Nicaragua. This system is expected to drift northward and move inland over Central America later today, which will end the opportunity for tropical cyclone formation. Regardless of development, heavy rains will continue across western Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala through early next week, resulting in flash floods and mudslides in mountainous areas of those countries. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...low...20 percent. $$ Forecaster Berg
