Cotton yarn imports have surged by 50% in June in China, from the previous month, reflecting a rebound in demand for foreign products. The textile industry is now waiting for a seasonal recovery in August and September. Our weekly report covers China's fiber and yarn prices on cotton, polyester, and viscose markets. Polyester prices have begun to bottom out in the last days in China, whereas staple fiber prices were sliding further in India and Pakistan. Demand is possibly rebounding in China thanks to a seasonal return to higher textile production in August. Polyester and viscose staple fiber prices have fallen slightly in India, over weak demand from spinners and pressure from import prices. The state-run CCI has about 1.5 million metric tons of cotton in warehouses. Our weekly review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester, and 100% viscose. Major yarn production centers are covered with Tirupur (Tamil Nadu), Bhiwandi (Maharashtra) and Ludhiana (Punjab).
