FAA proposes $200,000 civil penalty against Detroit's Wayne County Airport Authority (WCAA) for failing to maintain safe airfield conditions during November 2014 storm. This relates to allegations of failing to follow FAA-mandated Snow and Ice Control Plan (SICP). Allegedly, various DTW airfield surfaces became unsafe and WCAA failed to limit air carrier operations to portions of airfield where they could safely occur. WCAA has 30 days from receipt of FAA's enforcement letter to respond.

During his Dubai Air Show visit, FAA Administrator Michael Huerta met with government and industry aviation representatives from Middle East and other regions. Huerta focused on how FAA can work collaboratively with other nations on such key issues as air traffic management, safety oversight, airport expansion, and manufacturing. Along with use of safety- and efficiency-related NextGen technologies, Huerta noted use of safety data to spot trends and mitigate problems.
