Thorn SDS is a cocontractor providing System Operations Engineering services to our client EUMETSAT, the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites. We have an exciting opportunity for a System Operations Engineer to complement our team in Germany. This is a great opportunity to develop and grow your career in a multinational environment under the guidance of industry experts. The focus of the role involves all aspects of real time endtoend mission operations and the systems required to support them, including Communications Networks Operational Infrastructure and Security as well as interfacing to the Flight Operations Team as part of the overall System and Spacecraft Operations. The main focus of this service is in operations engineering of the Jason2, Jason3 and SARAL cooperative altimetry technology mission of the Indian Space Research Organisation missions, as well as the systems operations preparation for JasonCS. This role will provide the chance to work and develop skills and experience on a variety of spacecraft and ground systems and services including System operations in a realtime environment Endtoend operations monitoring Communications systems operations Security operations Infrastructure operations and evolution Business Continuity Multimission operations including mass storage and archiving System evolution for existing and new programmes Manual and automated system and satellite operation We expect the ideal candidate to have the following attributes in addition to a relevant university degree Experience in Systems Operations in a real time spacecraft operations environment Experience defining and implementing the verification and validation of ground segment systems Experience of defining, development, integration, acceptance testing and operation of mission data systems. Candidates must be excellent communicators in English with a passion for the Space Industry.
