LSE Space is looking for an experienced Engineer mf in order to fulfill the duty of Mission Control System Engineer for Sentinel3 for our customer EUMETSAT in DarmstadtGermany. The primary responsibilities of this role will be The tasks primarily involve the operations and operational configuration of the Flight Operations Segment Mission Control System FOS MCS based on SCOS 2000 the Network Data Interface Unit NDIU interface to the SBand TTC ground station equipment other operational interfaces of the MCS, including those within the FOS satellite onboard software maintenance capability, and satellite simulator. Requirements The consultant shall have the following background At least 3 years experience defining and executing spacecraft and related ground segment system operations At least 3 years experience operating andor maintaining spacecraft monitoring and control systems based on SCOS2000 and employing the Packet Utilisation Standards PUS At least 3 years experience developing andor maintaining spacecraft mission control systems software for a platform based on the Linux operating system. At least 2 years experience defining and implementing the verification and validation of spacecraft mission control systems software At least 2 years experience of spacecraft and ground segment operations preparation and early operations activities, including operations procedure development and system validation, and commissioning In addition, it would be distinctly advantageous for the consultant to have experience of the following Low Earth Orbit LEO spacecraft and related ground segment system operations, in particular for ERS, SPOT, Envisat andor Metop Network Data Interface Unit NDIU systems and their operation in support of the interface between the MCS and TTC ground stations Satellite simulator maintenance andor operation, preferably including the Portable Satellite Simulator PSS Maintenance of satellite onboard software. Academic and work related requirements A University degree in an engineering discipline is required. Perfect command of English, verbal and written. Knowledge of French would be an asset. A Senior Hardware Integration Engineer is required to work on CGIs Space and Defence projects. Please note that previous experience within Space or MOD projects is only desirable rather than essential. The initial role is expected to be on the Galileo satellite navigation project for the European Space Agency. For this, CGI is developing the ground station systems that oversee Galileo security and that control interaction with the 30 satellites, control the distribution of navigation data to the satellites and ground equipment, and that control access to the public regulated service by authorised bodies throughout the EU. CGI is developing bespoke software, procuring hardware specialist cryptographic equipment and COTS equipment and assembling the systems in racks at our Leatherhead site in the UK. The racks are then deployed to several sites within the EU for operational use. The system design is classified and role require s the handling of classified material.
