Package description Highly competitive salary Corporate Benefits Package Relocation Assistance if applicable Further information available from the Serco Europe Recruitment Team Main responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for generation products such as, Orbit Determination, Prediction for Science Mission, especially for EXOMARS RSP mission . Within your main responsibilities to make sure the products are well generated the following are the key tasks Orbit Determination, Prediction and Products Generation Execution of and support to operational tasks Processing of tracking data Determination and prediction of spacecraft orbital state Execution of and support to operational tasks Generation of orbit related products such as orbit event prediction and station acquisition data Flight Dynamics Application Layer Maintenance of elements of the Flight Dynamics Application Layer Flight Dynamics system development Specification of modifications, enhancements and additions to existing software elements Installation of modifications, enhancements or any other elements into the operational platform Setup procedures System configuration Participation in tests Ideal candidate The ideal candidate should bring the following skills and experience Essentials University degree in a relevant engineering field, astronomy, mathematics or physics Skills to apply the knowledge to develop solutions to technical mathematical and dynamical problems Ability to define, implement, validate and operate software using e.g. Unix andor Linux scripting languages, Fortran 77 andor 95, C Take operational responsibility in multidiscipline teams Fluency in English, both in speech and writing Ability to work independently Experience in operational Orbit Determination for interplanetaryplanetary probes. Experience in operational Orbit Determination for Lagrangian missions. Knowledge in Mars atmosphere modelling, including, e.g. the Mars Global Reference Atmosphere Model MarsGRAM and the Mars Climate Database MCD. Practical experience in operational modelling of Martian atmosphere, relevant for the EDL of RSP experience gained on e.g. aerobraking operations at Mars are of advantage Desirable Familiarity with interplanetary satellite orbital mechanics Experience dealing with external interfaces Experience with OracleSolaris andor Linux, network services and protocols, and system administration The ability to multitask efficiently working on multiple activities, multiple subsystems and if applicable multiple missions simultaneously Experience with operational Orbit Determination tools used at ESOC is of advantage. Job description For our customer, ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking for a Flight Dynamics Operations Engineer with the primary areas of responsibility being Test and Validation for Science Missions. Additionally, you may be requested to assume the responsibility and perform activities for other missions and activities within the scope of general Flight Dynamics operations engineering. Primary activities are related to JUICE however potentially also related to EUCLID and CLUSTERII. Responsibilities The general activities are Test and Validation Execution of and support to operational tasks Validation of operational Flight Dynamics products, such as command parameter sets, reports, event predictions and acquisition data before delivery to FCT and other users Flight Dynamics Application Layer Maintenance of elements of the Flight Dynamics Application Layer Flight Dynamics System Development Specification of modifications, enhancements and additions to existing software elements Implementation of modifications, enhancements and additions to existing software elements Installation of modifications, enhancements and additions to existing software elements on operational platforms design, coordination and implementation of tests Participation in tests Setup procedures Flight Dynamics SubSystem configuration Coordination of internal and external interfaces and actitivities across subsystems General Flight Dynamics operations engineering activities This is a fulltime position to be located at ESOCs premises in Darmstadt with the planned start date as soon as possible but not later than 1st November 2019. Approx. 400 hours per year of oncall and 1 European mission per year are foreseen.
