Our client, based near Frankfurt in Germany, is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. One of their objectives is to contribute to the operational monitoring of the climate and the detection of global climate changes. They are seeking scientific consultancy support to contribute to the development of product processing facilities for one of their programmes ground segment. The consultant will provide support in the area of optical imaging for prototyping activities and support to the generation of product generation specifications, calibrationvalidation plans, test data and performance budgets. The consultants expertise will include optical imaging and strong programming skills. The Consultant shall have the following experience and background University degree in remote sensing, meteorology, oceanography, physics, or equivalent At least three years of experience in the field of remote sensing in one or more of the areas listed above, including involvement in processing of satellite data up to level 1 calibrated geolocated radiances andor level 2 geophysical parameters Very good skills in a highlevel, compiled programming language, such as Fortran, CC, Java Fluency in commandline use on LinuxUnix platforms Skills in writing scientifictechnical documents Familiarity with Microsoft Office Good interpersonal skills in support of team work Desirable experience includes Experience in understanding and specifying requirements Experience with the specification, development and validation of satellite data processing chains Experience with calibration and product validation methods Knowledge in radiative transfer. The working language is English. This is a permanent employee assignment starting in January 2016. VMware launches cloud NFV platform and support programme

(Telecompaper) VMware has announced the launch of a number of network functions virtualization (NFV) offerings to help communications services providers (CSPs) migrate their infrastructure to a software-based model. Announced at VMworld 2015 Europe in Barcelona, the offerings include the vCloud NFV platform, the VMWare Ready accreditation programme and a number of other services delivered by VMware and its partners. The vCloud NFV platform brings together the core virtualisation and management components required to accelerate NFV deployment, supporting more than 40 virtual network functions from 30 different virtualised network functions (VNF) vendors. Bundled data centre technologies include vSphere, Virtual SAN and the NSX platform that provides software-defined networking.
