Optical Optoelectronics Engineer

Aurora has the opportunity to expand our support to ESA in the domain of AOL Automation Optics and Life Sciences Support. Overview Specific Tasks include Support of Sentinel4 at 40 level and upcoming Sentinel7 Carbonsattype mission, Sentinel8 Thermal IR mission and Sentinel10 Hyperspectral mission Phase AB1 studies planned parallel studies in each case. Running of detector technology development activities Large Format SWIR detector and a number of detector predevelopment activities funded by EOEP. Support to technology developments in the field of quantum key distribution. Specific qualification requirements University MasterPhD degree in space engineering with focus on Photonics or Optics. Background in detector and quantum technologies. Experience in the design, development and testing of optoelectronic systems and components. Good system experience in the use and application of fibreoptic components and sensors in spacecraft engineering. Experience with highpower pulsed laser systems, complex optical setups and vacuum systems. Fluency in English both written and spoken is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration in line with ESA Job Class. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday. Training to improve efficiency and provide strength for future career are of course included. Aurora assist with relocation both with support and financially. A vacancy for an Optoelectronics Components Engineer mf has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Toulouse. You will join the department in charge of activities in the field of EEE Engineering and Radiation France and will provide support in the area of photonic components and detector technologies such as light sources, light detection, planar waveguide photonic devices, optical fibre, and fibre optic links. This position is a fixed term contract of 12 months starting in May or beginning of June. In this context, your main tasks and responsibilities will include assessing or defining the selection, characterization, evaluation and qualification of photonic components for space applications defining all quality requirements for device designprocurement, inline with project requirements providing expert technical support on designs, applications, manufacturing processes, changes and failures analysis of photonic components for space applications establishing statements of compliance against all applicable standards and justifynegotiate any deviation with good technical rational attending as expert to Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews to instruments developments performing key inspection points and technical audits at manufacturers facilities including buyoff CSI Customer Source Inspection determining Airbus Defence and Space technology needs and proposing RT activities to internal program and to agencies programs participating to European coordination of photonic components related to standards and specifications This role will involve some travel for business twice a month for a few days abroad, and as such you must be able to travel accordingly. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Masters degree or PHD, ideally in Physics, electronics andor optoelectronics or a related area, Initial experience or significant internship in optoelectronics components engineering andor microelectronics engineering, Knowledge about space specification systems and standards would be a plus. good interpersonal and communication skills ability to work autonomously and cooperatively in a transverse organization ability to deal with project deadlines good analytical and reporting skills good organizational skills and interested in new technologies Advanced level of French and English.
