It employs some 40,000 employees generating revenues of approximately 14 billion per year.A vacancy for a Payload Product Development Manager mf has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Toulouse. The successful applicant will join the Payload Product Development department. The Payload product development group belongs to the Payload Product department within the telecom programme directorate. It is a transnational entity across France and the UK. Its main role is to develop advanced payload architectures answering to future telecom satellite customer demands. It covers in particular new payload concepts based on digital processing, such as active antennas or photonics solutions, for instance. The main objectives are to define advanced added value architectures, high level requirements for key enabling technologies and solutions and to define development road maps. In its activities, the payload development group interfaces with the commercial and marketing entities, with institutional entities CNES, ESA, CE, EDA, etc., as well as with internal and external equipment suppliers. Within the Payload product development group, you will be in charge of defining advanced payload architectures, with a main focus on RF, digital, processed and photonics solutions.Your main tasks and responsibilities will also include Developing payload solutions architectures, performance, modelling for advanced payloads including RF, digital, photonic solutions Assessing the benefit s of advanced solutions with respect to customer needs Defining associated payload road maps, specifications and development needs, for key equipment and solutions Participating in the developmentdemonstration project buildup including bids, partnership development, project implementation, Interfacing with the market world marketing entity, commercial customers, KAMs, etc. for business need understanding Interfacing with agencies, for study and funding capture Interfacing with suppliers for technology maturity survey and development followup Supporting commercial bids for advanced solutions. Payload Integration Manager maternity leave cover

We are currently looking for a Payload Integration Manager to support our customer in the Netherlands. This is a 6 months assignment to cover the maternity leave. Payload Integration Manager Key Tasks and Responsibilities The PIM is responsible for managing all the work related to their payloads to ensure that the work is brought to completion in time for the Certification of Flight Readiness CoFR and follows up the operations and postoperations phases. As part of the Directorate of Human Spaceflight and Operations, you will have the following responsibilities Review and analyse the ESR Experiment Science Requirements, suggest changes if needed and present results to the board Report the status and the potential issues of all the payloads via the PIM report Perform research on new payloads outlining the resources required including eventual planned maintenance, changes from a startup phase through development to integration Coordinate the identification of the resolution and the possible work among the various parties in case of anomalies Check compatibility of the crew training model Provide expert advice to the USOC in the operational concept definition of payload characteristics and ISS or rack limitations. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree Msc or equivalent qualification in an engineering or science biology, medicine, physics, chemistry discipline Demonstrated experience in aerospace or human spaceflight activities management, including development, integration and onorbit operations activities of complex payloads Result oriented, good communicator with a strong stakeholder management skills Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Airbus Defence Space is looking for 2 Payload Product RD Managers to join the existing team based in Portsmouth. The roles will require the candidate to identify and manage product and payload developments and offer a vision of satellite payloads for the future. The succesful candidates will integrate a transnational team split in three different sites Toulouse , Portsmouth and Stevenage that interface with internal engineering teams but also with customers and suppliers. Heshe will be asked to chair customer or supplier discussions. Because of this the roles have a wide visibility and could provide interesting career opportunities. The roles have indirect responsibility. No direct reports but require a strong project management skills back ground with the ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders. Design of advanced payload architecture for telecoms satellites. Identification of future payload products e.g. RF, digital, optical. Development follow up which includes road mapping, choice of suppliers etc. Support advanced bid teams in cost and product evaluation in line with customer and business expectations. Mandatory skills Degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline. Proven experience in advanced payload design incorporating RF and or Digital knowledge. Proven leadership experience with demonstrable evidence of influencing and negotiating at engineering, supplier and customer level. Proven project management experience across a complex transnational environment. DUTIES The Payload Manager reports to the Quantum Project Manager and is responsible for monitoring the performance and engineering aspects of the Quantum satellite payload. The Payload Managers tasks will include working in partnership with satellite operators and European industry to monitor payload design, development, manufacturing and test coordinating closely with the industrial teams to ensure that the design and performance of payloads meet their specified requirements, including in terms of software, subsystem and unit performance coordinating support of ESA experts from the Telecommunications Satellite Programmes Department and the Directorate of Technical and Quality Management coordinating with Product Assurance and Platform Managers to ensure that the system and quality aspects of the satellite payloads and their interfaces are accounted for interfacing with prime contractors to ensure timely, cohesive and complete procurement, manufacturing and verification of the payload monitoring the coherent and costeffective implementation of requirements from system level down to the lower application level ensuring adequate operational requirements and performance of the payloads monitoring the evolution of payload subsystem budgets to ensure the early identification of potential problems identifying potential risks associated with payload development and proposing appropriate risk mitigation measures coordinating payload and lowerlevel reviews as well as supporting spacecraftlevel reviews reporting regularly to the Project Manager. In the execution of the tasks, the Payload Manager will liaise closely and proactively with the rest of the Project Team as well as with other project teams within the Telecommunications Satellite Programmes Department. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or physics, together with extensive experience in the development of satellite payload RF equipment in the telecommunications domain. Systems and strategic thinking, leading and motivating others, responsible risktaking and decisionmaking, and relationship management are considered important skills. Candidates should be able to work well in a team and communicate effectively. Applicants should demonstrate proven technical capabilities in payload engineering and the capacity to apply analytical and sound judgment to resolve problems pragmatically. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required together with a working knowledge of the other language.
