Space Exploration Strategy Development System Engineer

Aurora has the opportunity to expand our support to ESA in the domain of HRE Human Space Flight Exploration. Overview The service supplier shall support the Exploration missions preparation team with the following duties Supporting the implementation of ESA internal and industrial system definition studies at Phase AB1 level, including associated technology studies for preparing future European activities and projects in the field of robotic exploration, addressing in particular future Mars Orbiter and Rover mission concepts Support to preparation and implementation of study reviews with industryinternational partners and ESA internal Developing and maintaining keydriving System and Technical requirements document for future European development activities and studies for exploration at mission, architecture, system and technology level Supporting international collaboration efforts in the field of exploration missions and supporting the definition and analysis of future international exploration mission scenarios and associated technology requirements Supporting activities involving engagement of external parties industry, academia, international partners organised by HRE in the field of exploration. Specific qualification requirements University degree MSc. in Engineering preferably space related. Experience in in writing System, technical and verification requirement documents. Experience with space exploration missions at phase AB1 level. Experience withtechnology studies in the field of robotic exploration. Fluent in the English language spoken and written. Knowledge of another European language is an asset. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration in line withESA Job Class. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday. The European Polar System Second Generation EPSSG is a challenging programme requiring the best engineers Europe can muster. The System Engineering team will handle the complex task of stitching together major functional elements and ensuring endtoend performance with large volumes of data flow. Working to established standards and procedures ECSS and using advanced tools for management of complex systems DOORS, consultants will be responsible for defining and controlling interfaces between functional elements, verifying that high level system requirements are flowed down and implemented correctly, system design integrity is maintained and optimised throughout the development process. The profile of candidate we are seeking is as follows University degree in the domain of engineering, science, or equivalent. At least 5 years of experience in the field of engineering of space andor ground system. Experience of large space systems space andor ground segment. Experience of interface management and definition. Familiarity with mechanisms and tools for detailed interface definition. Demonstrated capability to prepare and manage IRD and ICD. Additionally, experience in the following would be considered an advantage Experience in the area of LowEarth Orbiting satellites LEO. Experience in CORE design tool from Vitech. Experience with DOORs. The tasks and responsibilities of the successful candidate to be undertaken during the EPSSG Phase CD will typically include the following Coordination and definition of technical interfaces with the external partners and service providers Organisehold meetings and workshops with external and major internal interface partners to establish interface detailsagreements Maintain Interface Requirement Documents IRDs for all system interfaces using DOORs. Identify the mechanisms to be used for detailed ICD definition eg use of XML etc Generate and maintain the system Interface Control Documents ICD. Provide support to general system engineering activities Analysis and trade off activities Preparation and maintenance of system technical specification, documentation of system design and justification , ad hoc internal reviews , support to progress meetings, support IVV activities We are seeking employees who are motivated and flexible who are available to start work in Germany in early 2018.
