Based on TPMOV® Thermally Protected Metal Oxide Varistor technology, Surge-Trap® Series comprises 6 NEMA devices for ANSI/UL 1449 Type 1 and 2 applications, and both indoor and outdoor use. Wall mount and panel mount units provide UL96A lightning protection and offer surge capacities from 50–450 kA for applications ranging from industrial manufacturing and commercial construction, to residential building and HVAC.

NEMA publishes standard for uninsulated conductors.

NEMA has published ANSI/NEMA WC 67-2015 Standard for Uninsulated Conductors Used in Electrical and Electronic Applications. Standard covers the following uninsulated conductors: single end and stranded, coated and uncoated copper, coated copper alloy, coated copper-clad steel, aluminum, and thermocouple extension conductors. Originally developed in 2011 by the Aerospace Technical Committee, revision adheres to requirements that were altered to better align with SAE standard AS29606.

NEMA Paper addresses smoke alarms and AFCIs.

NEMA has published NEMA ABP 11-2016 Compatibility between Smoke Alarms and Arc-Fault Circuit Interrupters. Purpose of paper is to explain that an arc-fault circuit interrupter provides increased fire protection for electrical installation. There is no evidence that the circuit supplying smoke alarms should be exempt from these increased protection requirements. Power supply reliability for smoke alarms is not impacted by the installation of an AFCI.

NEMA Paper addresses arc flash hazards.

NEMA has published NEMA ABP 8-2016 Avoid Arc-Flash Occurrences by Following Industry Standards. Paper introduces nature of the hazard and industry codes and standards that address arc flash, as well as requirements with which facilities must comply. Originally developed by NEMA Molded Case Circuit Breakers Committee, revisions were made to bring document up to date with latest testing references and requirements, and to align with current terminology and industry practices.
