Weve had significant involvement in over 200 space missions and operate at the forefront of UK Space Research. About The Role We now have an excellent opportunity for a talented Group Leader within the RAL Space Assembly Integration and Verification AIV Group. The Group is responsible for the operation and development of a range of test facilities for the assembly and qualification of space hardware for both RAL Space and the wider user community. We have recently attracted significant investment for new facilities, alongside the construction of a new multimillion pound building. The AIV group is focused on both current facility operation and the provision of new facilities for users. Our facilities consist of thermal vacuum chambers ranging from 1m3 to 130m3, vacuum bake out chambers, a vibration test facility, precision cleaning equipment, inspection and metrology equipment and high specification clean rooms. All facilities are equipped with the latest instrumentation, and have modern computerbased control and monitoringdata acquisition systems. Due to expansion within both RAL Space and the AIV Group, a new Group Leader is required to lead the group through expansion and change, with new opportunities that new facilities will bring. Our future expansion will allow users to perform complete AIV campaigns for test items as large as complete satellites, as well as bespoke testing campaigns such as the calibration of space borne scientific instruments. Responsibilities will include managing and directing the 14 current team members, including managing their training and development needs to support expansion of the group acting as the face of this high profile group to stakeholders and interacting extensively with customers and reporting on programmes managing projects andor work packages, including movinginstalling new facilities responding to technical invitation to tender alongside the bid manager and expert colleagues reporting of group finance and schedule overall responsibility for ensuring COSHH standards are adhered and appropriate risk assessment are in place overall responsibility for ensuring the compliance of the facilities to the ECSS specifications and other applicable standards. About You Suitable candidates will hold formal engineering, science or technical management qualifications, ideally to degree level, but strong apprentice or ONC level or equivalent qualified candidates will be considered. Space testing qualifications are desirable. The successful candidate will demonstrate a technical background, ideally with experience of running a large facility, including practical experience in assembly and integration, however these are not essential. Primarily candidates should demonstrate significant experience of leading, managing, developing and motivating teams within a comparable environment. As the ideal candidate you will have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present to high level customers and build relationships internally and externally. Ground Systems Integration and Testing Engineer 1723024 Job Description We are looking for an End to End Ground Systems Integration and Testing Engineerto support our client ESA at their Operations Centre in Darmstadt. You will be providing consultancy support in the End to End Ground Segment Reference Facility E2EGSRF which is a unique facility providing a representative, reference E2E ground segment and simulated space segment. The integration and testing of ground segment elements e.g. MC systems, ground station components etc., throughout the systems engineering lifecycle, from supplier to enduser, takes place in the E2EGSRF. Also critical mission tests, e.g. RF compatibility tests between sc and ground stations, are performed from E2EGSRF. In addition the E2EGSRF is an environment where integration and testing of ground segment components, standards and technologies takes place at any maturity stage, allowing assessment, confidence building and risk reduction for target customer missions. The E2EGSRF is also intended as a platform for Independent Verification and Validation, both at ground segment subsystem and system level, if required. For the last 2 years, the Engineering Development Laboratory project EDLab has been carried out in ESOC with the main aim of enhancing the exploitation of the E2EGSRF as a representative environment where Ground Segment components can be deployed and tested, both at subsystem level and integrated configurations involving different subsystem components, up to a complete E2E Ground Segment. You shall support the EDLab project by providing integration and test services for ground systems in the End to End Ground Segment Reference Facility.
