Significant experience of validating remote sensing products and complex remote sensing data processing systems. In addition, the Key person shall have practical, demonstrable experience inwith Software engineering, in particular in algorithm software development, in a Unix environment using CC, and ideally also Python and MatlabIDL Implementation of scientific algorithms from a given specification. NICETOHAVE SKILLS CONSIDERED AS AN ADVANTAGE Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the knowledge of some of the following Working with relational database preferable Oracle or Postgres Spacecraft andor ground segment operations Imaging and sounding instrumentation for remote sensing spacecraft The key person shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplines manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision. TASKS The tasks of the Key person will typically include Monitoring the mediumterm to longterm performance of Level 1 data processing systems, including the performance of their algorithms, and monitoring the quality of the generated Level 1image products Developing and maintaining image quality assessment software, including the specification, verification and validation testing of software developments Supporting the further development of the Level 1 data processing systems, including the specification, verification and validation testing of system updates and related Level 1 products Supporting the investigation and correction of anomalies related to the performance of the MSGMTP Level 1 data processing systems Supporting the preparations for future GEO and LEO missions in the area of image quality assessment Attendance at technical meetings Participation in formal reviews.

The Key person shall have a university degree in engineering or physics and, as a prerequisite, a background of at least 5 years in space hardware projects possibly with Earth observation instruments. Experience in project management positions is desirable together with the ability to follow satellite level Payload AIV activities. The Key person shall also have some knowledge of PAQA processes and procedures and good general computing skills, with familiarity with Microsoft Office software Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.. Previous experience in AIVAIT and commissioning activities is regarded as advantageous along with experience of working on a collaborative programme between different partners. The working language for the position is English and therefore the Key person must be able to work effectively in this language and have some knowledge of the other. TASKS Support to Microwave Humidity Sounder MHS and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration NOAA Instruments Engineering Activities. The tasks of the MHS and NOAA Instruments Engineer shall include the following Participation to Metop satellite AIV, Launch and Commissioning activities relevant to the MHS and NOAA instruments, including operation of the MHS EGSE, data analysis, preparation of procedures and test reports instrument ground testing at sc level, endtoend testing at system level, satellite inorbit verification. Maintenance of an uptodate plan of Metop satellite AIV, Launch and Commissioning activities requiring support for the MHS and the NOAA instruments. Follow up all activities related to MHS carried out by the Airbus DSUK and maintain a list of PDS activities and their status and expenditures. Follow up of all activities related to the NOAA instruments including AVHRR and SEM instruments onground calibration. Support inorbit checkout verification tests during MetopC In Orbit Verification IOV. Investigation of onground and inorbit instrument anomalies and support operations to the relevant recovery actions. Provide general support to the Metop Operations Team for MHS and NOAA instruments matters. Analyse and assess both onground and inorbit performances of MHS and NOAA instruments. Participation to instrument reviews and other meetings with industry and other partnerssuch as ESA, NOAANASA. Maintenance of regular contacts with the above mentioned EUMETSAT partners and industry in relation to MHS and NOAA instruments. Maintenance of a status list of MHS action items, nonconformancesanomalies, requests for waivers and deviations. Preparation and maintenance of instrument related documents, as well as presentation material e.g. Instrument Operational Manuals
