Payload Data Ground Segment System Engineer Deadline for applications ASAP Job Description We are looking for a Payload Data Ground Segment System Engineer on behalf of our client for one of their locations in Italy. The successful applicant will be employed by ATG Europe and not by our Client. The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to Tasks and Responsibilities Technical management of SAR Processors, Multispectral Processors, Hyperspectral Processors, Thermal Processors, Processing Infrastructures, Catalogue and Archive Systems, CALVAL Facilities subsystems subcontractors. Technical management and coordination of Payload Data Ground Segment engineering and AIV activities. Technical management of subsystems design activities down to component level. Preparation of subsystems technical requirements specifications. Definition and justification of SS architecture, from concept to detailed design phase. Definition and control of SS technical interfaces, internal and external towards space and launch segments. Engineering budgets and SS performance. Requirements Masters degree or comparable in Aerospace Engineering. Professional experience of at least five years in Ground Segment GS engineering projects for space systems, in Phase CD as mandatory. Professional experience of at least five years in definition and design of Payload Data SS for EO systems for institutional andor commercial customers. Experience in the definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of DOORS. Experience with coordinating partners from different companies in an international project. Strong competences in design and development of EO space systems. Strong competences in the Commissioning activities with regards to calibration and validation of EO systems. Use of simulation tools for the definition of GS performances, e.g. Stk, MATLAB, IDL, Python. Proven capability to define of GS design throughout the support of model based methods, techniques and tools e.g. SysML, UML, Capella MBSE. Sound knowledge of ground system engineering processes, and ground system and software life cycles. Sound knowledge of relevant ECSS standards. Fluent in written and spoken English. Overview The OnBoard Computer Data Handling Section provides functional support to ESA projects and carries out technological research RD on turnkey onboard HW Data Handling solutions with an emphasis on Platform and payload data handling architectures and their building blocks equipmentunits, modules and key components. Units such as onboard computers, mass memories, remote terminals, instrument control units. Digital and analogue signal processing electronics for payloadplatform control functions. Frontend acquisition and processing chain electronics. Onboard data transfer interfaces, buses and associated protocols high and low speed. Platform data handling functions related to security, data authentication, encryption, compression, machine learning and artificial intelligence. Use of microelectronics devices. except for RF payloads. With regards to RF Payloads, you will report to the Head of Section and, within the technical fields described above, the main tasks and responsibilities will include Providing technical support to ESA projects, programmes and general studies in the field of platform and payload data handling systems throughout all project phases. Participating in feasibility studies, project reviews and the evaluation of procurement proposals. Identifying critical development problems and assisting in their resolution. Contributing to the definition of technology development requirements and work plans for the Agencys technology programmes. Defining, initiating and supporting RD activities covering both long and shortterm needs. Fostering new application areas for multidisciplinary activities, with an emphasis on innovative concepts, cuttingedge technologies and system architectures. Laboratory activities, as required. Monitoring applicable scientific and technological trends and maintaining stateoftheart expertise. Contributing to the dissemination of the results of the activities performed and the transfer of knowledge across the Agency. Specific qualification requirements The candidate shall have Master or PhD in electronics, networks, telecommunications or a related field. At least 5 years of professional experience in the fields of space hardware related to platform and payload data handling equipment units, modules and boards. This includes the ability to design, review and simulate analogue and digital electronics for data handling units use of FPGAprocessorsmicrocontrollers, singlepointfailurefree circuitry, failure containment techniques and use of COTS with radiation mitigation techniques. Proactive attitude to solving problems. Good organisational skills. A very good working knowledge of spoken and written English is essential. Knowledge in the following fields will be considered as asset Design and Use of Data Handling Electrical Ground Support Equipment EGSE. Design, validation and verification of AIML Processing Algorithm inferred on HWSW platforms. Design of electronic boards for radiation testing of analogue and digital circuitry based on COTS.
