Weve had significant involvement in over 200 space missions and operate at the very forefront of UK Space Research. RAL Space was recently awarded 99m from the UK Government to develop the National Satellite Test Facility NSTF, which is now in the early construction phase. This stateoftheart facility will provide a world class set of colocated facilities for the assembly, integration and testing of space payloads and satellites. Once completed, the NSTF will have the capability to conduct Antennae, Electromagnetic Compatibility EMC, Vibration, Acoustic, Thermal and Pyroshock testing for payloads up to 7 tonnes within clean room conditions. This significant new investment adds to the existing facilities operated by RAL Space department, part of STFC, within UK Research and Innovation UKRI. About The Role As a result of the NSTF project, we now have a fantastic new opportunity for an Antennae and Electromagnetic Compatibility EMC Test Group Leader to join us to take the lead on the operation of the planned Electromagnetic compatibility and Antennae testing facilities. You would be joining us from the early stages of the facility development which gives the unique opportunity to build and lead a team of test engineers and to shape the operation of the facilities and the test campaigns from the very beginning. Your role will be to hold overall technical responsibility for agreeing the test programme from bid stage onwards through to successful delivery. With the majority of the facilities to be expected to operate to ECSSQST2007C, the Group Leader will work closely with the RAL Space Quality function to ensure compliance through the lifetime of the facilities. A key part of this important role will be engaging with the users of the facility and the wider testing community to keep abreast of the latest technical developments and then championing and driving technical developments in the facility. About You If you have dedicated experience of operating test facilities either radio frequencyantennae measurement or EMC as well as previous experience of managing and providing technical leadership to medium sized teams in this field, then we would really like to hear from you. You may be educated to degree level or equivalent or you may have a vocational qualification. As well as experience in this area, its important to us is that you have excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence on a technical basis with a wide range of customers. A dedicated, selfmotivated and positive approach is key with the ability to motivate and empower others as this exciting new project moves forwards. Description of the job A vacancy for a CAD Process Manager has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Stevenage. The CAD Process, Methods and Tools Team Leader CAD PMT TL is in charge of the definition and development of all mechanical design processes, methods and tools to be applied by the Mechanical Design Office MDO staff in Stevenage in order to ensure the mechanical design is of a high quality, is efficiently created, updated and is consistent across the group. The successful applicant will be responsible for a team of three. They are also required to coordinate these activities with other CAD PMT groups transnationally as well as the business as a whole, and provide CAD Process support and training to all Stevenage MDO CAD and D.O. teams. Tasks accountabilities Owner and definition of CAD Process in support of all Stevenage MDO design and drawing office activities, principally using CATIA V5 and 3D experience V6, inconjunction with related PDM and ERP software and systems 3DCom, Delmia, SPRINT, Windchill etc. Definition of tools and identification of tool development related to CAD activities. Identification of CAD softwarehardware problems and resolution from local to transnational level. Identification and definition of data exchange processes and data formats to achieve efficient local to transnational data sharing and communication. Contributes to the maintenance and update of CAD softwarehardware, maintaining a status record of workstations, licences, and planning and implementation of updates in cooperation with CAE and IM. Contributes to maintaining records of user requests, identification and tracking of problems and difficulties. Identification of and delivery of training plus the development of training aids, tools and documentation. MDO IF with other CAD Process responsible at other Airbus sites. Improve CAD Process through application and implementation of new techniques available through CAD software and development of automatic processes where appropriate to maximise design efficiency. Responsible for the automation design for CAD activities, overseeing andor taking on automation VB development and scripting activities. To give guidance and user support to the Stevenage CAD community to improve the quality and consistency of data, efficiency of the CAD processes. This role will involve frequent travel to Toulouse, Portsmouth and Friedrichshafen. Therefore flexibility to travel as and when required is essential. This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Companys success, reputation and sustainable growth. Required skills Experience Extensive proven track record in this field. Delivering CAD user support. General drawing and design office practice including configuration control and document management. Aerospace or space industry background is desirable. Technical skills Extensive Catia V5 or V6 3Dexperience knowledge including General workbenches including part design, product design and surface. FTA and 3D as master principles. Power copies and knowledge ware. Expert understanding of 3D as master principles. Experience of other 3D applications and technologies VR, Delmia, ALM etc. Good vision of mechanical design office manufacturing activities, Able to make decisions and be proactive on improvements.
