(Telecompaper) Vodacom Group has announced a strategic repositioning of its Vodacom Business Africa operations. The company is selling off the activities and instead partnering with local operators in Nigeria, Zambia, Angola, Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire.

Vodacom Group FY revenue rises 4.3% to ZAR 90.1 bln, customers up 5.8%, net profit dips

(Telecompaper) Vodacom Group said its revenue increased by 4.3 percent to ZAR 90.1 billion in the year ended 31 March. It ended the fiscal year with 110 million customers, up by 5.8 percent. Operating profit rose 1.1 percent to ZAR 24.51 billion, or 7.4 percent excluding a one-off, non-cash IFRS 2 charge of ZAR 1.4 billion and transaction costs of ZAR 124 million relating to the BEE deal. Net profit decreased slightly to ZAR 15.44 billion from ZAR 15.56 billion in 2018.

Vodacom Group Q3 revenue rises 1.5%, underpinned by international operations

(Telecompaper) Vodacom Group revenue increased by 1.5 percent to ZAR 23 billion in the third quarter ended 31 December 2018 from ZAR 22.65 billion in the same period of 2017. Service revenue rose by 2.4 percent to ZAR 18.9 billion from ZAR 18.40 billion a year earlier. Group customers climbed by 7.1 percent to 79 million, being up by 5.4 percent in South Africa and by 9.3 percent in international operations.

Vodacom group revenue up 5.6% to ZAR 44.4 bln in H1

(Telecompaper) Vodacom Group revenue increased by 5.6 percent to ZAR 44.36 billion in the company's fiscal first half to 30 September. Service revenue rose by 6.1 percent to ZAR 36.77 billion, and EBITDA was up 4.7 percent to ZAR 16.47 billion. The group added 4.8 million customers in the six months, including 2.5 million in South Africa, 2.3 million in international operations and 373,000 at Safaricom, for a total base of over 109 million customers at the end of the period.
Vodacom South Africa and Telkom sign roaming and facilities leasing deal

(Telecompaper) Vodacom South Africa and Telkom have concluded a long-term, multi-billion rand agreement whereby Telkom will obtain roaming and facilities leasing services from Vodacom with full effect from June 2019. Telkom customers will be able to roam on Vodacom's 2G, 3G and 4G networks and this will reduce the number of dropped calls as users move between networks.
