Spun yarn prices are no more moving in China, ahead of lunar year holidays due by mid February. Yarn production began declining, amid a general shift from 100% cotton to polycotton. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing (Zhejiang) and Changyi (Shandong). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Historical data are available for download.

In my last blog post, I discussed a Bloomberg Businessweek article asserting that the luxury condo market may be taking a hit due to currency challenges for international buyers, particularly in the New York, Miami and Los Angeles markets. While San Francisco is not as heavily populated with foreign buyers as these three cities, we do have our share - and heaven knows we've got plenty of high-end condos with more on tap.
