Hilda is moving toward the northwest near 7 mph (11 km/h). This motion is forecast to continue through tonight, with a turn toward the west-northwest expected on Wednesday. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts. Gradual weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Hilda is likely to become a tropical depression on Thursday and a remnant low on Friday. A slow motion toward the southeast is forecast tonight, followed by a southward motion on Wednesday. Recent satellite-derived surface wind data indicate that maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 30 mph (45 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional weakening is forecast during the next day or so, and Ignacio is expected to degenerate into a remnant low by tonight, and dissipate by late Wednesday.
