DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 500 PM AST (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Omar was located near latitude 35.4 North, longitude 60.1 West. The depression is temporarily moving toward the east-southeast near 10 mph (17 km/h), and a turn back toward the east accompanied by a slight decrease in forward speed is expected by Friday morning. A turn toward the northeast and north-northeast is forecast Saturday morning and Saturday evening. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Gradual weakening is forecast, and Omar is expected to become a remnant low on Friday, or possibly sooner. The remnant low should dissipate by Sunday morning. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches). Nana is moving toward the west near 14 mph (23 km/h), and a westward to west-southwestward motion is expected through Friday night. On the forecast track, the center of Nana will move over western Guatemala and southeastern Mexico today and tonight, then move over the Gulf of Tehuantepec on Friday. Maximum sustained winds are now near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Continued rapid weakening is forecast, and Nana will likely become a remnant low on Friday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- WIND: Tropical storm conditions will continue near the center of Nana for a few more hours. STORM SURGE: Water levels along the Belize coast will gradually subside today. On the forecast track, Nana will continue to move inland over Guatemala and extreme southeastern Mexico today and tonight. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts. Rapid weakening is forecast today and tonight, and Nana will likely become a remnant low on Friday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1000 mb (29.53 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- WIND: Tropical storm conditions will continue in the warning area in Guatemala for a few more hours.
