DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 900 PM MDT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Iselle was located near latitude 21.8 North, longitude 114.2 West. Iselle is moving toward the north-northeast near 9 mph (15 km/h). A turn toward the north is expected overnight and this general motion should continue through Sunday, followed by a turn to the northwest. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Iselle is expected to weaken to a depression overnight, and to degenerate into a remnant low within the next day or so. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1004 mb (29.65 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells generated by Iselle and a large area of southwesterly winds to its south are affecting portions of the southwestern and west-central coast of Mexico, as well as the west coast of Baja California Sur. Iselle is moving toward the north-northeast near 7 mph (11 km/h). A turn toward the north is expected during the next several hours with this motion expected to continue through Sunday. This should be followed by a turn to the northwest. Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Satellite imagery indicates that Iselle is becoming less organized, and it is expected to weaken to a depression late tonight or on Sunday. The depression should then degenerate into a remnant low later Sunday or Sunday night. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) to the southeast of the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1002 mb (29.59 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells generated by Iselle and a large area of southwesterly winds to its south are affecting portions of the southwestern and west-central coast of Mexico, as well as the west coast of Baja California Sur.
