For our activities at EUMETSAT, we are currently seeking to employ highly motivated and enthusiastic Data Processing Operations Engineers to work within the Copernicus DPO team, in an exciting innovative international environment. The primary responsibilities of this role will be Data Processing Operations Operational Monitoring and Reporting Operational Documentation Interface with other teams and partners Evolutions of the data processing Operations Build up Oncall support. Ideal candidate University degree or equivalent in engineering, physics or similar relevant discipline. Knowledge and experience with the following is considered essential for each key person At least 3 years experience of the operations of realtime, complex, satellite instrument data processing systems At least one of the service team shall have more than 8 years experience of the operations of realtime, complex, satellite instrument data processing systems, as well as demonstrated experience in planning and coordination of operation build up activities You shall have demonstrated experience in near real time, data driven, automated systems with large computer networks Demonstrated experience with UNIXLinux operating systems. Be able to communicate effectively in English Be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work under pressure and with a minimum of supervision Furthermore, it would be highly desirable for the Key Person to have experience with or knowledge of some of the following Demonstrated experience of Instrument data and product processing Level0 to 2 of meteorological andor earth observation products Experience of validating complex remote sensing data processing systems Development and maintenance of operational procedures andor configuration data Programming languages e.g. C, C and IDL Scripting languages and databases e.g. Perl, Python, shell, Oracle Spacecraft andor ground segment operations Knowledge andor experience of quality control, calibration and validation. Satellite Operations Engineer

Position Reference 034 You will have the opportunity to engineering support the Sentinel Spacecraft Operations Team within the Flight Operations Division of the Operations and User Services Department. During the execution of the contract, you will be involved in the operations of all Sentinel 3 and 6 spacecraft, and all related ground segment and operational services, in the various operational scenarios including S3ABC and S6AB in either routine, operational scenario testing, or commissioning. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Prepare for, and execute all relevant Copernicus Sentinel routine operations in a SCOS2000 environment, as well as preparing for the recurrent satellite handover activities Perform the maintenance, validation and documentation of the space segment assets update Interface with all other flight operations teams such as the MCS, mission planning, FDF, but also with external operational entities or services Operate all satellite and FOSPDGSPDAB components aspects related to operations engineering for the platform, payload and instrument, including data handling, instrument parameter, OBSW maintenance, as well as FDIR and OPS security aspects Plan and schedule the satellite operations in coordination with the others teams Continuous monitoring of Spacecraft performance and status Participate to anomaly investigation and resolution Reporting and analysis of the satellite system performance Proficiency training of the Engineers using the space and ground segment simulators Ensure the oncall operations engineer rota, such that safe and efficient operations are ensured by the Spacecraft Operations Team on a 247 basis. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You have a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline. You have demonstrated experience of Spacecraft Operations on Low Earth Orbit LEO, 3axis stabilised spacecraft with responsibility for one or more platform subsystems or instruments during operational validation, commissioning or routine operations phases. You have demonstrated experience of SCOS2000 mission control system and use of the MOIS operations preparation too. You have demonstrated experience in satellite performance monitoring and reporting aspects including anomaly analysis and solving in liaison with satellite industry, procedure change control and configuration management processes. You have demonstrated experience in the operation or development of satellite ground segment facilities, in particular procedure development, monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, performance analysis, configuration management and simulator facilities. You are fluent in English. You possess strong data analysis, processing and synthesis skills. You are able to conduct all operations in an orderly and disciplined manner, and shall work calmly and correctly under stress. The following skills would be highly desirable Specification of space system and operational concepts, facility requirements. You are familiar with OnBoard Control Procedure and OnBoard Position Scheduler concepts. You are familiar with the ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard, customisation and usage. You are familiar with system change control and configuration management procedures. You have experience with data analysis software packages such as MATLAB. You have experience with file parsing languages such as PERL, AWK. You have experience in the use of VBA for development of adhoc tools in MS Office applications. Additionally, the holder of the position will contribute to the following tasks Space segment activity planningschedulinguploading Maintenance of space segment andor recovery from anomaly Maintenance of the set of operation procedures and documentation including the update and operational validation of procedure and database using MOIS and DABYS Raising and tracking of Anomaly Reports, including investigations into subsystem level anomalies and regression testing of associated fixes.This may require a close cooperation with the Post Launch Support office at ESTEC and the satellite Industry.
