We are currently looking for a Spacecraft Operations System Engineer to support our customer in the Netherlands. Spacecraft Operations System Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities You will be involved in spacecraft operations engineering activities and monitoring of all operations activities executed by the Galileo Operator, including the different phases of operations preparation, validation and execution. You will be primarily assigned to the System Operations Engineering of the Galileo First Generation but with the possibility of supporting other missions e.g. Galileo Evolutions projects within the Galileo program. Support Space Segment SSEG engineering activities to ensure operability, in particular compliance of space segment products with operations requirements, including new OnBoard SW versions, user manuals, flight procedures, etc. Production of segment operability requirements for new sc or new sw releases Technical coordination of FOC Satellite manufacturer activity in support to corrective maintenance i.e. generation of OBSW upgrades Technical coordination of the ESA involvement in the Operations anomalies handling, nonconformance handling and technical configuration control boards processes in liaison with the GSA and its Operator Support the GSA in the evaluation and execution of all operations activities executed by the Galileo Operator, ensuring the preparation, validation and execution of operations and plans Followup of special operations, with particular attention but not limited to anomaly resolution cases, including evaluation and reporting of proper execution of spacecraft and mission operations Supervision of technical coordination between inorbit space segment maintenance activities and operational validation of maintenance products including OBSW patches or new SW versions General Flight Control Support Service including participation to System Compatibility Test Campaigns and Spacecraft Performance Analysis as required Contribute to the definition of the System Level Operational concepts and requirements for the next generation of Galileo Satellites. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in a relevant engineering discipline Significant experience in operations preparation and execution including LEOP Commissioning In Orbit Testing and Routine phases Experience in Spacecraft subsystem AOCSData HandlingOBSM and operations engineering Significant experience in system operations engineering to ensure spacecraft operability in particular the compliance of space segment products with operations requirements in the area of new Onboard SW developments, related user manuals and flight operations procedures. Professional experience in the coordination of Operations anomalies handling, nonconformance handling and technical configuration control board processes Experience with integrated planning processes dealing with system and service operations, constellation and mission operations, ground infrastructure deployment and maintenance activities Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. The engineer will become a core member of the operations team. This position is on customer side at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany. ResponsibilitiesDuties Become responsible for the principal tasks of the topography instrument radar, microwave radiometer, etc and provide backup support to the optical instruments and the platform. Maintain the corresponding operations documentation and flight procedures. Perform trending and performance analysis on the corresponding subsystems and instruments. Investigate into satellite anomalies. Participate in satellite oncall support rota. Identify and support the implementation of system and process improvements concerning the spacecraft operations team responsibilities. Support the systems and operations preparation of Sentinel 3 C and D satellites. Support the system and operations preparation of other LEO satellites. QualificationsExperience University or similar degree At least 5 years of experience working as a Satellite Operations Engineer preferably with LEO satellites Experience in the operations preparation and routine operations of satellite mission control systems for LEO satellite systems Experience in the operation and development of satellite ground segment facilities. Several years of experience with SCOS2000 Essential Skills Experience in the specification of system and operational concepts. Good understanding of VBA. Familiarity with OnBoard Control Procedures and OnBoard Position Scheduler concepts. Desirable Skills Familiarity with synthetic aperture radar SAR. Familiarity with Python and Simsat based simulators.
