Vodafone Cameroon ceases operations

(Telecompaper) Afrimax announced that Vodafone Cameroon ceased to operate on 10 November, after it reluctantly concluded that it was no longer commercially viable to resume services in the country. The company, which was licensed to use the Vodafone brand under a licensing agreement with Vodafone Group, was forced to halt its activities on 14 September, after its licence was ruled invalid by the ministry of posts and telecommunications. Afrimax said that Vodafone Group had no equity interest in Afrimax or Vodafone Cameroon.

We are looking for an Advanced Missions Concept and Technology Operations Engineer MF MTESERVOPS201711ESOC005 The successful candidate will be based at ESOC European Space Operations Centre, Darmstadt, Germany. ESOCs responsibilities include controlling spacecraft in orbit, managing ESAs global tracking station network, and design and build the systems on the ground that support missions in space. Within ESOC, the Advanced Mission Concepts and Technology Operations function facilitates the introduction of innovative operations concepts and associated functions and performance with enabling new technologies. The successful candidate will help ESOC getting ready for future ESA missions with efficient and effective technologies for operations, by identifying and validating either prototypes or applications based on suitable advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and data analytics. Tasks and Responsibilities Research work on new operational concepts and produce assessment reports o Elicitate and analyse needs and requirements from current missions and future missions. o Identify and analyse innovative evolutionary and disruptive operations concepts. o Map the concepts to suitable technologies. o Maintain a technology roadmap related to long term evolution of space missions concepts and associated operations concepts mainly but not limited to the artificial intelligence and data analytics technology branches. o Spinin of interesting innovative technology. Operational validation of innovative algorithms, models, languages, methods and techniques. This can include procurement of hardware andor offtheshelf software Support the evolution of external studies GSP, TRP, GSTP... along the entire lifecycle as well as during the study preparation and after completion of the external study o Identification of new study subject and study feasibility assessment. o Requirements elicitation and assessment. o Services to assess technical progress of the study e.g., participating to study reviews and progress meetings, acceptance testing validation. o Customer user services. Technical and operation support to consultancy requests from both internal entities as well as external parties. Provision technical supervision of trainees, including young graduate trainees, national scheme trainees, students and PhD students. Support the knowledge retention and dissemination through different channels and means of achieved results in research and tecnology as well as in tools and applications and their operational use, e.g. through presentations and papers. Qualifications and Experience A Masters or Bachelors degree in aerospace engineering or computer science. Familiarity with Spacecraft Engineering, Operations and with the ESOC environment. Proven experience with OPSOSA systems eg. MUST, DrMUST, MUSE, Novelty Detection, APSI, TECO. The following knowledge will be considered as additionnal assets o Knowledge and requirements elicitation vis a vis ESOCs operations engineering. o Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Software EngineeringDevelopment and Methods. o Robotics, Autonomy, and Automation. Job description EDRS European Data Relay System is a satellite based high data rate optical communication system for relaying user data received from low earth orbit LEO satellites via geostationary satellites directly to the ground for further distribution. The system consists of the space segment two geostationary satellites and the ground segment. The first GEO satellite EDRSA has been launched January 2016 and the second GEO satellite is planned for third quarter 2017. Kaband intersatellite links are supported alongside with the optical communication capacity. A Kaband based service will be provided to the International Space Station from late 2017 onwards. Future system evolution will expand the EDRS service range to manned and unmanned aeronautical application. EDRS is a PPP program between ESA and Airbus. Airbus CIS is the prime contractor and responsible for the management and implementation of the programme and the subsequent provision of the data relay service to ESA and other customers over a period of minimum 15 years. The operation of the system and the corresponding provision of the data relay service is done through the EDRS ground segment consisting of primary and backup mission operation centre MOC primary and backup satellite control centre SCC payload control centre DPCC four ground stations communication network The primary mission operation centre is located at Airbus Ottobrunn. Tasks As a Verification Validation Engineer for Operations Products, you are responsible for the validation of flight procedures. Your activities will be performed in close cooperation with system engineering, spacecraft prime and operations contractor. The holder of this position will be located at Ottobrunn and reports to the head of the engineering team. Regular shift work is not required with exception of InorbitTest support.
