Operations and Service Provision concept Contribute to the elaboration of the Operations and service provision concept, including the use of ground centers and stations Technical followup of operation processes Support transition from current operations to future service operator migration scenarios analysis, operations transition plans Support the management of contracts and associated Ground Operations Ensure consistency of technical and operations requirements baseline during ground segment evolution process specify and verify elements functions following changes, troubleshooting and validation activities Define the approach to and follow up operational validation of major systemSW releases and support the EUSPA for managing the integration of new services within the operational baseline Define and analyze the relevant KPIs analyze the operations changes baseline configuration changes or deviations, operation processes evolutions and services provision transitions Participate in the Anomaly Review Boards, define criticalityurgency for anomaly resolution, setting adequate priorities and ensuring and monitoring the timely management by industry of anomalies reports Launch and Early Operations Phase LEOP and In Orbit Test IOT Services consolidation Contribute to the LEOP and IOT definition Define the approach to ensure appropriate LEOP Infrastructures Define the approach to ensure appropriate IOT Infrastructures Define the interfaces during conduction of LEOP and IOT operations Followup LEOP and IOT Skills Experience in satellite missions, in particular EU Space programs Experience in Space segment engineering, maintenance andor operations Able to work in an interdisciplinary team Selfstarter, able to work independently with no supervision Management skills Willingness to travel several days per month Fluent in English, both in speech and writing Other language skills would be a plus Academic requirements a University or similar degree in engineering or similar discipline. Thorn SDS provides specialist spacecraft engineering services within the European Space Sector. We have a new and immediate requirement for services within the Heliophysics Missions Operations Unit at ESA ESOC, Darmstadt. This is a fabulous opportunity for an experienced SOE with excellent communication skills in English, to work on a number of hugely interesting programmes. Once successful you will initially support Cluster II in extended routine operations and Solar Orbiter in cruise operations and will have opportunities to work on other missions within the Solar System and Explorations Missions Division. The scope of the role is wide ranging and includes Operations Supervision, Mission Planning, Spacecraft Performance Analysis and Reporting, Phase Execution, Anomaly Handling and Onboard Software. You should be able to clearly demonstrate experience in all of these areas. We expect you to have applicable knowledge and experience across all Spacecraft Subsystems and ideally be considered expert in at least one AOCS DH OBSM Power Thermal TTC Payload you should also be able to demonstrate your team player attributes ideally with experience of coordinating and interacting with other service providers in operations scenarios. The role will develop with the mission phases, and across different missions, so we are looking for engineers who can demonstrate initiative and flexibility in a fastpaced environment. With experience of the full lifecycle of spacecraft flight procedures and deep space missions, you will have carried out procedure creation, validation and simulations. You should have worked on SVTs, anomaly investigations and have a good understanding of spacecraft operations at system level. Programming skills in Python, a good understanding of general software engineering practices SQL, Djangi, Docker, GITLAB, experience with MOIS and a familiarity of the SCOS2000 mission control system would all be considered advantageous. Juggling tasks and making the most of the resources available to you will be essential in this role. We have a new and immediate requirement for an experienced System Engineer to join our consortiums service team providing a number of preoperational support activities to the Mission Control Teams, linked to the evolutions and new developments required with the Earth Observation EO Flight Operations Segment FOS and in particular Sentinel Expansion Missions. The scope of the role is wide ranging but will specifically cover PreOperations Support in the following areas Ground Systems FOS Assembly, Integration and Validation A, IV SpacetoGround testing and Validation You should be able to clearly demonstrate experience in all these areas and, in addition, have a minimum of 5 years of experience in providing support to and integrating within Mission Control Teams for FOS development activities, ideally from early requirements definition phase to A, IV activities. You should have a good understanding of the operational concepts linked to File Based Operations FBO and the CCSDS File Delivery Protocol CFDP. A background and experience working with European Cooperation for Space Standardisation ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard PUS and a good working knowledge of PUSC would be considered advantageous.
