LSE Space is looking for experienced Engineer mfd in order to fulfill the duty of Aeolus Spacecraft Operations Engineer for our customer ESAESOC in DarmstadtGermany. For our activities at ESAESOC, we are currently seeking to employ highly motivated and enthusiastic Aeolus Spacecraft Operations Engineer to work with Aeolus payload chain, including the preparation and validation of the FOP, commissioning plan and payload operations mission planning. Also to perform activities for additional subsystems or systems within the scope of general SOE services, including test, validation and operation of the Mission Control System, Mission Planning System and Simulator. Typical activities shall cover the following tasks Study of Project specific Characteristics and Ground Segment Documentation Participation in the Analysis and Design of Satellite Operations Preparation of Flight Control and Contingency Procedures Mission Management and Mission Planning Support Service Production of Project specific Software Validation and Satellite Interface Validation Test SVT Procedures, Reports and Participation in SVTs Participation in the System Operations Validation Test SOV, Training and Simulation Programmes Participation in Launch and Early Orbit Phase LEOP and Mission Critical Operations Preparation of and Participation in the Commissioning Phase General Flight Control Support Service Spacecraft Performance Analysis. Ideal candidate Essential Requirements Spacecraft subsystem knowledge, with emphasis on the Payload Hands on familiarity with operational tools MCS, Simulator, DB browser, MOIS or equivalent tool Handson familiarity in SVT and flight procedures development Ability to work in an organised manner, with good reporting skills and reliable deadline meeting Coordination skills with internal Flight Control Team, and external ESRIN payload data centre, Satellite developer, simulator developer parties Fluency in English. Desirable Requirements Familiarity with the ESOC environment. Familiarity with low Earth orbit satellites, including basic mission analysis and payload observation scheduling aspects. Tasks and Activities You will be responsible for Mission Analysis for the asteroid mission HERA to 65803Didymos, but with the possibility of supporting other service andor missions. Key tasks Mission Analysis Trajectory Optimisation for interplanetary transfer and the nearasteroid phase Navigation and Guidance, including Optical Navigation for Mission Analysis Concurrent Design Studies for space missions Mission Analysis Tools Development, environmental models, numerical integration techniques, local and global optimisation techniques and algorithms Support to project, scientists and industry, participation in reviews. General Flight Dynamics operations engineering activities. Specific Requirements The key person shall have the following experience and knowledge Experience in Trajectory Optimisation, including the multibody problem Experience with trajectories in proximity of minor bodies Experience in Navigation and Guidance techniques for Mission Analysis activities Experience with Concurrent Design Studies for space missions Experience in Mission Analysis Tools Development, environmental models, numerical integration techniques, local and global optimisation techniques and algorithms Knowledge about operational and ground segment aspect in the missionarchitecture design. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory A University degree in a relevant engineering field, astronomy, mathematics or physics Skills to apply their knowledge to develop solutions to technical mathematical and dynamical problems in cooperation with customers and other experts Ability to define, implement, validate and operate software which applies the above solutions using e.g. Unix andor Linux scripting languages, Fortran 77 andor 95, C Will to take operational responsibility in multidiscipline teams Fluency in English, both in speech and writing Coordinate and interact with other service providers in operations and other fields. Ability to work independently The following skills would be highly desirable Familiarity with the ESOC environment Familiarityexperience with Flight Dynamics operations engineering tasks Experience dealing with external interfaces Experience with Linux, network services and protocols, and system administration The ability to multitask efficiently working on multiple activities, multiple subsystems and if applicable multiple missions simultaneously.
