Required tasks The general responsibilities 1. GNSS signal propagation and associated SBAS algorithms design, in particular for those effects linked the signal crossing the Earths atmospheric layers i.e. ionosphere and troposphere and those related the local reception environment e.g. multipath and interference 2. SBAS processing algorithms designed at SBAS level to provide satellites orbits and clock corrections, ionosphere delay corrections and their associated integrity confidence information 3. GNSS threats impact modelling at SBAS level Specific tasks will include Engineering support to the coordination and critical assessment of all propagation and associated SBAS impact design related issues within EGNOS Project Office including algorithm assessment and recommendations Engineering support to the critical assessment of SBASs processing algorithms, in particular for those related to mitigating the impact of scintillation, ionosphere temporal and spatial TEC gradients and interference and for those related to improving the overall SBAS system monitoring availability Engineering support to the critical assessment of GNSS threats impact modelling definition and justification at SBASs level Engineering Support to the animation of an international technical subgroup e.g. contributing to IWG Technical Subgroup related to GNSS and Ionospheric modelling and processing e.g. for ionosphere TEC temporal and spatial gradients and scintillations Participation and contribution to multimodal e.g. Aviation, Maritime GNSS standardisation groups for what concerns GNSS signal propagation effects modelling and processing e.g. scintillation, multipath Engineering Support to the management of several RD projects related to GNSS signal propagation e.g. MONITOR, Multipath Studies, Interference mitigation Engineering Support to the preparation and validation of ionospheric and scintillation model data and delivery to EGNOS V2V3Evolutions Contractors Engineering Support to the coordination with respect to GNSS signal propagation related subjects o modelling of the navigation propagation signals using stateoftheart software tools and databases o modelling of ionospheric propagation conditions and their effects on SBAS satellite navigation missions Support the definition of campaigns to serve RD and other EGNOS project needs e.g. for scintillation monitoring. Support in the planning and execution of RD activities as well as in managing the necessary software tools and databases related to IONO modelling and processing Engineering support to several projects, the service provider will attend project reviews for EGNOS e.g. V2V3 system and subsystem reviews at algorithm level

On Gaia the leader of a Coordination Unit CU fulfils a role equivalent to that of a PI on an observatory type mission, while the CU itself, as a discipline, can be seen as the equivalent of an instrument. In this context, the service will provide support to CU7, coordinated by a scientist who will be the liaison to CU7. Acting as interface between the SGS and a certain number of PI Teams which may require deep knowledge about specific instrument functionality, performance and operations Track the science capabilities of an instrument during its development phase by participating in instrument team meetings, reviewing documents e.g. EIDBs Users Manuals and assuring completeness and validity, applying and running instrument modelssimulations, etc Coordinating of the calibration efforts by the ESA IDTs and the instruments principal investigator teams, the latter being spread across different institutes and universities across Europe and supported by national funds Provide support to the Instrument Teams in the preparation execution of AIV activities and calibration campaigns ISTs Understand the functionality of the instrument data to be archived and support the definition of the instruments Archive data products in coordination with the Archive Scientist and in the data pipeline development Support the provision of SPICE kernels e.g. Instrument specific, orbitattitude, as required Organise and maintain uptodate all information concerning the instruments which is deemed necessary for future knowledge preservation Contribute to the SGS preparation activities including Definition of operations plans procedures and preparation of training activities Contributing to SGS requirement specification and design, by assisting in the definition of user requirements for the SGS Reviewing assessing completeness and adequacy of the system being designed and implemented.
