RTL revenues fall over 28% in Q2, sees ad market decline slowing in Q3

(Telecompaper) European broadcaster RTL Group reported a sharp fall in second-quarter revenues, hurt by the slowdown in the advertising market during the coronavirus outbreak. Sales fell 28.3 percent year-on-year to EUR 1.186 billion. The company said it was able to offset around half the sales decline with lower costs.

(Telecompaper) Cisco reported a slightly bigger drop in revenues in its fiscal fourth quarter to July, down 9 percent to USD 12.2 billion compared to an 8 percent fall in the previous quarter. Revenues were near the high end of its guidance. Earnings still increased 22 percent year-on-year to USD 0.62, helped by lower taxes.

3 Group revenues fall 3% in H1 on lower customer base, coronavirus impact

(Telecompaper) 3 Group reported a drop in first-half results, hurt by the effects of the coronavirus crisis and the loss of customers in the UK and Italy. Revenues fell 7 percent to HKD 40.52 billion, and EBITDA was down 11 percent to HKD 14.45 billion. Excluding currency effects, revenues fell 3 percent and EBITDA was down 7 percent.

Verizon Q2 revenues fall 5% on drop in wireless, advertising

(Telecompaper) Verizon reported a small increase in second-quarter net earnings, despite lower revenues, and said it still expects roughly flat earnings in the full year. Sales at the US operator were down 5.1 percent to USD 30.4 billion in Q2, hurt by lower handset sales due to store closures during the coronavirus outbreak as well as reduced usage and roaming by customers. The company said wireless service revenues fell 2.7 percent year-on-year to USD 13.1 billion and forecast a figure flat to 1 percent lower in Q3.
