Job Description We are looking for an experienced Operations Engineer to work as a consultant for our client ESA. You will provide support to the Mission Operations Definition Unit in the Solar System and Exploration Missions Division at ESOC and contribute to the definition phase activities in the field of mission operations for future ESA missions. Your tasks will include, but not be limited to Support of mission operations definition activities Prephase A, AB1 by contributing to interdisciplinary concurrent design team phase preparations as mission operations expert, primarily aimed at lunar surface missions Coordinate, prepare and execute robotic surface mission simulation campaigns e.g., as field trail tests or softwareintheloop simulations Support to the management, implementation, and operation to the European Relay Coordination Office ERCO Manage and contribute to research, technology and innovation activities Required Skills and Experience University degree or equivalent, including experience in the engineering, physics, or computer science or similar domains Experience in working in an operational environment and good knowledge in both the space and ground segment and all their respective subsystems Relevant experience in preparation and execution of System Validation Tests SVTs and Simulation campaigns for the experiments as well as acceptance of operations systems such as the METERON Operations Environment MOE or GSTVi Familiarity in mission operations definition activities The ability to maintain a system overview is essential. This ability must be exercised within a multidisciplinary context in cooperation with other teams, covering several different data processing levels and instruments Ability to learn and develop the needed skills and knowledge to contribute to the definition phase activities in the field of mission operations. This includes the ability to rapidly absorb, and make use of, information presented in written and oral communications in a dynamic context Systematic approach to work, be able to plan the work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks and to write accurate and consistent technical documentation Familiarity with effective teamwork principles and team building aspects Desirable Skills and Experience Practical knowledge of the following will be a distinct advantage Knowledge of satellite or ground operations, or nonspace operational environments Familiarity with ISS operational procedures PODFs Familiarity with programmingscripting languages e.g., C, Java, Python Experience with Linux, network services and protocols, and system administration. The candidate will contribute to the project lifecycle and eventually be a core member of the mission operations team for H2SAT, reporting directly to the mission operations manager.
