Spacecraft Operations Engineer for XMM Integral DEOD813010 Job Description In the Astronomy and Fundamental Physics Missions Division, the successful candidate will be assigned initially to the XMMNewtonINTEGRAL Flight Control Team FCT to provide payload and AOCS operations support and as well as studies of the potential for automation of some operations. The XMM and INTEGRAL FCTs are partially merged, so that in addition to their prime responsibilities members of each FCT provide backup and oncall services for both missions. The services to be provided are listed below Assist the SOMs in the execution of the missions operations with a special responsibility for the Radio Frequency Subsystem taking care of all routine operations and procedural updates for that subsystem Assist the SOM in the execution of the mission operations with backup responsibility for the Integral AOCS subsystem and some Integral PLM instruments. Assist the SOMs to coordinate GS coverage for routine operations and special maintenance periods Assist the SOM in the analysis, implementation, testing and tailoring of mission control automation tools Act as internal Flight Control Team training coordinator for both Missions Assist the SOM in the review of the existing infrastructure and mission systems and define any upgrades required for the Mission Operations Centre for XMMNewton. Define, prepare and execute ground segment validation tests including acceptance tests, system validation tests and ground segment system tests for any Mission Operations Centre upgrades and support to ground operations automation development and validation.
