Mentors Satellite Control Engineers when needed. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES GENERAL Policies and Procedures Maintain Flight Ground Operations Procedures for the SCC and Ground TTC subsystem. Support Definition of Internal Business Processes Maintain and update DSS Training Scenarios to Ensure Readiness of Spacecraft Controllers Operations Project Planning and Implementation Contribute to the Satellites Project team development to ensure operation requirements are taken into account and consequently fulfilled. Support the development, launch and inorbit testing of new satellites. Participating in the development of software tools, methods and procedures to improve testing and measurement capabilities. Testing and assessing the viabilitycompatibility of new systems and equipment. Participating in the identification and assessment of new technologies. BEFORE LAUNCH Operation Planning Formulation Ensure readiness of the Satellite and Ground Operations procedures Operations Project Planning and Implementation Contribute to the Satellites Project team development to ensure operation requirements are taken into account and consequently fulfilled. Support the development, launch and inorbit testing of new satellites. Participating in the development of software tools, methods and procedures to improve testing and measurement capabilities. Training Prepare, develop and deliver to Spacecraft Control Engineers the PreTraining AFTER LAUNCH Operation Planning Formulation Ensure preparation and validation of the Satellite and Ground Operations procedures Ensure readiness of Satellite Simulation Scenarios for Training Purposes Satellite InOrbit Operations Support trend analysis and anomaly resolution for satellite operations Support Spacecraft Control Engineers during Manoeuvers and other critical operations Ensure readiness of Flight Dynamics operations Offline Activities Prepare Satellite Operations Procedures using different tools to configure the Payload and the Platform APT, PCC, PCS, Validate Procedures using the DSS, Support the trend analysis studies and Satellite Health Reports on a monthly basis, Prepare Continuous training to Satellite Controllers and other team members as required by developing Simulations scenarios Certify Satellite Controllers Investigate Anomalies Communication and Coordination Monitor and report all failures associated with the satellites performance Work closely with Senior Satellite Operations FD Engineer on Flight Dynamics aspects and Anomaly Management. Coordinate with CMC for Payload configuration Requests Whole of Life Continuous Training Provide intense training programs for Spacecraft Controllers as required QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS Qualifications Experience Bachelor in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent Master preferred, 5 years or more of experience in Satellite Operations, Satellite Platform and Payload Engineering deep understanding, Knowledge of Satellite Simulator Systems, Knowledge of AOCS, Thermal Subsystem, TCR, Data Handling, Power Supply, Telecommunication Payload, COMSEC, Knowledge of a Satellite Monitoring and Control system EPOCH suite will be an advantage plus, Knowledge of DS2000 from MELCO will be an advantage, Skills Problemsolving skills, Strong communication and interpersonal skills, Develop and train others, Proficiency of English language, Able to work in an international and multicultural environment, Integrity, Flexibility and Respect.

One of our Space Clients in Germany is looking for a LEO Spacecraft Operations Engineer. This is a Consultancy Support position. The role would ideally suit a contractor looking for a long term consultancy role within the space industry. The submission deadline for applicants is August 24th 2015. Key Tasks To participate in coordinating the satellite operations activities of other team members and external teams responsible for onboard software management, simulator support, mission control, mission planning, flight dynamics and ground stations. To support system and operations preparation activities, particularly with respect to AOCS related activities. Support to the routine operations of Metop A, B and preparing for MetopC, comprising Provision of operational expertise to the Attitude and Orbit Control System in particular, with support to other platform subsystems andor payload instruments andor onboard software management, satellite simulator and ground segment operations interfaces. Maintain the corresponding operations documentation and flight procedures, including the update and operational validation of procedures releases in a configuration controlled environment. Perform trending and performance analysis on the corresponding subsystems and instruments, including definition and possibly prototyping of additional analysis checks where necessary. Investigations into satellite anomalies. This may require a close cooperation with the Operations Support Entity. Support the coordination of partner agency interactions for relevant subsystemsinstruments. Participation in the satellite oncall support rota. Identification and support to implementation of system and process improvements concerning the Metop Spacecraft Operations Team responsibilities and interfaces. Support to the system and operations preparation of Metop Second Generation satellites Provide inputs and or review the definition of system and satellite operational concepts. Review space to ground interface specifications and flight operations manuals. Support the definition of tools and processes required to prepare for and operate the satellites. Knowledge Skills Demonstrated experience in at least two of the following mandatory skills, with a particular emphasis on ThreeAxis Stabilised Attitude and Orbit Control Systems Spacecraft monitor and control operations. Spacecraft operations preparation engineering. Low Earth Orbit spacecraft design or Assembly Integration and Test activities at system or subsystem level. Experience with some of the following would be advantageous Inorbit operations of Low Earth Orbit Earth Observation satellites. Experience in the operation or development of satellite ground segment facilities, in particular procedure development, monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, performance analysis, configuration management and simulator facilities. The procedure development tool MOIS and the procedure execution language STOL. The mission control systems EPOCH or SCOS. Specification of system and operational concepts, facility requirements. Familiarity with OnBoard Control Procedure and OnBoard Position Scheduler concepts. Familiarity with the ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard, customisation and usage. Familiarity with system change control and configuration management procedures. Data analysis software packages such as MATLAB. File parsing languages such as PERL, AWK. Use of VBA for development of adhoc tools in MS Office applications. Good written and verbal English skills are essential. Qualifications University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
