Galileo Control Segment SCCF Engineer

Position Reference 1019 On behalf of ESA, we are currently looking for a Galileo Control Segment SCCF Engineer to work in its Site ESTEC in the city of Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Be responsible of supporting and following up the procurement carried out by the Ground Control Segment GCS Prime industrial contractor for the SCCF element. Interface with other areas of the project on SCCF related topics. Support the preparation and execution of G2G Procurement actions. Report on progress and status of the development and other activities to the Head of Galileo G1 GCS Management Service. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory Master or PhD from a recognised institution of secondary studies or equivalent, with at least 4 years of proven industrial experience in the field. Knowledge of IT technology including virtualization. Knowledge and experience of the design and performance of satellite communications systems. Knowledge and experience of Satellite Control and Monitoring Systems including its operations, architecture and implementation. Knowledge of the development, test and verification as well as deployment of ground segments. Autonomy in writing minutes of meetings, technical notes, specifications and reports. Good interpersonal skills and team spirit. Previous working experience in a multinational environment. Good knowledge of MS office tools. Excellent Organizational skills, good practical sense, ability to work effectively in a team and be able to work autonomously in the field of responsibility. Availability and willingness to travel for missions inside or outside Europe. Experience in procurement of industrial activities. Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Eligibility for a Personal Security Clearances PSC from a country within the EU, issued by your national security administrations. Key Tasks and Responsibilities The Galileo Mission Segment GMS is the ground based intelligence of GALILEO, Europes satellite navigation system. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The GSMC Operator will have the following main tasks and responsibilities Supervising the security and system status of the Galileo system, handling Incidents and security alerts raised by the GSMC security tools, operating the GSMC Ticketing System to log and trace the full incident handling process, in line with the operational procedures Ensuring the timely execution of PRS procedures distribution, requests and orders, supervising the Galileo system PRS Signal in Space health status and ensuring duly authorised access, providing advice to Member States on the operation of the PRS, including providing advice on how to achieve their goals When needed, contributing to provision of advice on the continuity of services, including on actions required to maintain the service, to the EU decisionmaking bodies, supporting Galileo Crisis Management and implementing the instructions issued by the relevant authorities Investigating any degradation of the PRS and SECMON service and processing Galileo system anomalies Ensuring that the GSMC Service Desk functions are delivered Supporting at basic level the Galileo Security Facility GSF system Supporting the improvement of the Security Monitoring, PRS access and Council Decision 496 operational procedures development Supporting the validation of the new releases of operational equipment Participating and contributing to the review and update of the incident handling process, the lessons learnt process, and the GSMC risk and vulnerability management.
