BIO Executive Vice President for Health Policy Dan Durham released statement regarding White House announcement of actions to accelerate the Precision Medicine Initiative. "The data and discoveries resulting from this Initiative may play a critical role in enabling biopharmaceutical companies to develop treatments for patients before or early on in their disease progression, and with therapeutics that are far more effective and focused on the specific characteristics of their particular disease."

BIO applauds advancement of GMO labeling bill.

BIO applauds bipartisan action by Senate Agriculture Committee to advance biotech food labeling solution as an alternative to costly and confusing patchwork of state laws. According to BIO's Brian Baenig, legislation seeks to establish clear, uniform standards for labeling of foods made with genetically modified organisms. This will help provide consumers with information about foods in the marketplace while keeping food costs low and protecting farmers' rights to use modern technologies.

BIO Applauds Advancement of biomedical innovation legislation.

BIO's Jim Greenwood, in his statement regarding Senate HELP Committee mark-up of legislation as part of Senate biomedical innovation initiative, applauded bipartisan votes. Specifically, Greenwood cited passage of The Advancing Hope Act of 2015, reauthorizing Pediatric Rare Disease Priority Review Voucher Program. He also spoke to passing of Medical Countermeasures Innovation Act of 2015 as well as legislation adding Zika virus to Tropical Disease Priority Review Voucher program.
