Healthcare policy expert Dan Durham will join BIO as Executive Vice President and lead Health Policy Section. BIO president and CEO Jim Greenwood called Durham, "a proven and respected leader" and "an important addition to BIO’s senior management team." Specifically, Greenwood cited Durham's public and private sector experience as well as his policy experience, relationships, and management skills as beneficial towards helping BIO achieve its policy goals and objectives.

BIO Applauds Iowa Senate's renewable chemical tax credit passage.

BIO applauded Iowa’s Senate for approving 5-year, $105 million production tax credit for renewable chemicals and helping to drive innovation in this new sector. Speaking on behalf of BIO, vice president of its Industrial and Environmental Section Brent Erickson pledged to support Iowa legislature, other states, and federal government in helping "to level the playing field in economic development incentives for renewable chemical and biobased manufacturing technologies."

BIO and KLSC support Kentucky Senate Bill 134.

BIO and Kentucky Life Sciences Council voiced support for Kentucky Senate Bill 134, legislation that properly preserves patient and physician access to accurate prescription information, while promoting a competitive market for complex biologic medicines. Legislation gives pharmacists ability to substitute lower cost interchangeable biologic medicines while safeguarding primacy of physician-patient relationship and maintaining communication between patients and their treatment teams.
