BIO issues statement regarding USPTO proposed changes.
2015-08-25 14:31:10| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
BIO issued statement regarding U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s proposed changes to rules governing Patent Trial and Appeal Board inter partes review proceedings. BIO appreciates PTO’s efforts to improve IPR proceedings, but it is clear that these moderate improvements do not adequately address fundamental problems with IPR system. Proposed changes would do little to prevent continuing and growing abuse of IPR proceedings, and only reinforce need for Congressional action to fix this system.

BIO applauds bipartisan renewable chemical legislation.
2015-08-05 14:31:08| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
BIO expresses thanks to Representatives Bill Pascrell (D-NJ), Mike Fitzpatrick (R-PA), and Richard Neal (D-MA) for introducing H.R. 3390, which provides renewable chemical producers access to production or investment tax credits currently available to other renewable energy producers. According to BIO's Brent Erickson, by creating level playing field in tax policy, U.S. industrial biotech companies can innovate and develop new renewable chemicals for production of bio-based products.
