According to BIO's Jim Greenwood, one proposal released by Hillary Clinton's campaign "would do irreparable harm to the nation’s health innovation system." Consequences cited included "significantly" hindering emerging biotech companies from developing new cures/therapies needed by patients. Railing against "intrusive government regulation," Greenwood cited past bipartisan rebuffs of provisions of Clinton's plan and said results would include fewer medicines and restricted access to them.

BIO is calling on biopharmaceutical, business development, life sciences, and policy experts to submit proposals for sessions and speakers at 2016 BIO International Convention, which will take place June 6–9, 2016 in San Francisco, CA. Program will address topics relevant for biopharmaceutical industry and related sectors. Upon review, qualified speakers will be considered to fill remaining slots in their knowledge area. This Call for Sessions is open September 17 through October 15.

As announced by BIO, 2016 World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology will be held April 17–20 in San Diego, CA. Call for papers for this event invites industry leaders as well as those from academia and financial sectors to submit proposals and individual papers beginning September 17, 2015. Abstracts or proposals for 15 min presentation on any program track are sought for breakout panels, breakout papers, posters, and Green Tech investor sessions.
