Junior Satellite Systems Engineer for Spacecraft Data Bases Deadline for applications ASAP Job Description For our client we are looking for a Junior Satellite Systems Engineer for Spacecraft Data Bases for their location in Bremen, Germany. Tasks and Responsibilities In interaction with the satellite and operations team, to identify the data to be entered in the data bases To populate the SRDB with the selected data To track the validation of the SRDB data To assist the satellite and operations team using SRDB and its products To participate in improvement of the utilization of the SRDB The SRDBs contain TMTC definitions and produces the MIB exports and software files for operating the spacecraft. Working closely with the SRDB enables an indepth understanding of the functions and operations of the spacecraft and provide a good entry point for satellite systems engineering. Requirements Degree in Informatics, Physics, Aerospace Engineering or comparable qualification Fluent in written and spoken English Experience with data bases Good communication skills Fast learner with a good technical understanding Work accurately, carefully and independently. EPSSG is the European component of the Joint Polar System JPS, which is based on a cooperation with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration NOAA. EPSSG will be based on a twosatellite configuration with the launch of MetopSG A in mid2021 followed by the second satellite MetopSG B 18 months later. Two recurrent MetopSG A and B satellites will be provided and launched in order to achieve a minimum of 21 years of operations. While EUMETSAT relies on a cooperation with the European Space Agency ESA for the development of the satellite and of a subset of instruments, EUMETSAT will develop and procure a dedicated Ground Segment GS. Existing technologies and infrastructure elements that are already in operation in the EUMETSAT headquarters shall be capitalized as well as the Satellite Application Facilities SAF network. This position is based at customer site in EUMETSAT in Darmstadt. It is fulltime and permanent and expected starting date will be around April 2020. We are looking forward to meeting you! ResponsibilitiesDuties The activities performed by you will be an input for the overall system and ground segment Validation Verification VV activities. You will typically be involved in tasks related to test tools test data, with focus on tools data required for VV of instrument data processing chains. Tools can serve for example the purpose of test data generation manipulation reformatting, test data injection into the ground segment and test data collection analysis. Typical tasks will include Definition and development of the onground instrument data processing specifications e.g. algorithms and product formats Development of the onground instrument data processing systems, test tools and test data Verification, integration and acceptance of the onground instrument data processing elements Validation of data processing algorithms and products Reviews, verification and testing of onground instrument data processors against appropriate versions of requirements, specifications and reference processors System engineering activities in collaboration with EPSSG System and Ground segment teams Interactions with Space Segment teams and analysis of instrumentrelated documentation Formal reviews and technical meetings at system and ground segment level Preparation of documentation for system and ground segment level reviews in relevant areas. QualificationsExperience University degree in the domain of engineering, science, or equivalent At least 3 years of experience in engineering of onground data processing elements for spaceborne observing imaging andor sounding systems. Essential Skills Good skills in higher programming languages such as CC, Java, IDL, Python Experience in verifying onground instrument data processing systems Experience in development of test data sets and processor prototypes Desirable Skills Knowledge of relevant spaceborne observation instruments EPSSG satellites will embark sounders and imagers from the ultraviolet to the microwave range, a scatterometer and a radiooccultation instrument Experience in specification of operational products for earth observation missions.
