Structures Engineer J 2620 Summary We are looking for an experienced structural analyst with skills in Nastran and Patran for an exciting opportunity in the space industry. Objective The engineer will be responsible for the generation of the finite element mathematical models. Responsibilities Duties The engineer shall support the generation and setup of structural mathematical models using the finite element method for structural analysis problems for ESA funded projects, taking into account the specific objectives of such analysis, covering all structural materials applied in spacecraft and launchers. Where necessary nonlinear approaches and specific solution sequences shall be applieddeveloped e.g. Nastran SOL 600, SamcefMecano Abaqus. Heshe shall perform the interpolation of the temperature maps as resulting from thermal analysis for their employment in finite element structural analysis. Heshe shall further perform the analysis, evaluate critically the results and issue relevant documentation covering all analysis steps The engineer shall support the generation and setup of mathematical models for structural elastic stability problems for ESA funded projects, taking into account specific requirements attached to this type of analysis Heshe shall perform stability analysis leading to the determination of buckling loads and deformations. Where necessary the post buckling behaviour shall be addressed, adequate nonlinear approaches used, and where relevant specific solution sequences shall be developed Heshe shall evaluate critically the results, and issue relevant documentation covering all analysis steps ProbabilisticStochastic Tools The Contractor shall be capable of implementing stochastic tools and methodologies in any of the above analysis domains when relevant, e.g. based on tools like STORM and MatLab Qualifications Experience Good degree or equivalent in relevant field Strong experience in the field of light structures for all relevant structural materials, loads derivation and modelling in the above relevant fields Essential Skills The Engineer shall have adequate knowledge in the employment of the following software Nastran including nonlinear, DMAPs etc, Patran, DCAP, Simpack, Dytran, SamcefMecano, Abaqus, STORM or others as necessary to cover the analyses required Qualities The engineer will be methodical and though in his her approach to work This is a customer facing role so good communications skills are important Further Details All roles within Telespazio VEGA have a defined closing date, however if a successful candidate is found before the advert expires the role will be closed early. Objective To support the Venus Express Science Operations mainly on medium term mission planning with ad hoc support to long term, short term and software engineering planning. Responsibilities Duties It is expected that, after getting acquainted with the VEX science operations, the majority of the tasks will be devoted to mediumterm planning support. The longterm planning needs to be detailed a few months before operation to match to the real VEX orbit and the specific requests from the instrument teams. In 4week intervals, mediumterm plans will need to be prepared. The planner will act as an interface point to coordinate the mediumterm planning inputs from the PI teams. In detail, the following tasks need to be performed Collect the mediumterm planning input from the PI teams Using the EPSPTB and MAPPS software tools, check the PI input for correctness Where required, support specific PI teams in the generation of their MTP level products Iterate, if required, the operational requests with the PI teams Forward the consolidated operational requests to the VMOC in the form of Pointing Requests PTR and Payload Operational Request POR files Iterate, if required, the operational requests with the VMOC Expected output One mediumterm plan per month, consisting of Pointing Requests PTR and Instrument Timelines ITL Documented process and planning files storage in Concurrent Versioning System CVS Planning files delivery to the VEX Mission Operations Centre Long term short term planning shall be performed whenever the main responsible person is not available or needs support. Planning software engineering support shall be performed on an asneeded basis.
