Automation Robotics Engineer J 2992 Summary An experienced Engineer to work onsite at ESTEC within the Automation Robotics Section. Objective To provide support the operation and maintenance of the Automation and Robotics Laboratory. Responsibilities Duties Duties will include but are not limited to Daytoday operation and maintenance of the Automation and Robotics Laboratories Maintenance and servicing of the laboratory hardware and software Support in planning and implementation new procurements Maintenance of the laboratory inventory Implementation of the laboratory safety rules Planning, execution and documentation of laboratory experiments as specific engineering support to existing ESA space projects Preparation of engineering, technology and facility infrastructure competence for potential future ESA projects Assessment and integration into endtoend testbeds of the various outputs from ESA technology development contracts demonstration of the Automation and Robotics capabilities. Activities within agreements with external organisations Technical support to ESA projects Technical support to the initiation and to the running of ESA development contracts Qualifications Experience Experience in specification and analysis of robot manipulation, locomotion and control systems. Payload Instrument Engineer J 2990 Summary An experienced Engineer to work onsite at ESTEC within the Technology Preparation Section, in the Future Missions Office SCIF. Objective To provide support for the timely development of technologies required for the future Science missions. Responsibilities Duties Duties will include but are not limited to Monitor the implementation of the activities contained in the Cosmic Visions Technology Plan, solicit the required inputs from the respective Interface Technical Officers, maintain the associated implementation database, produce implementation status reports and presentations Assist in the planning and coordination of the implementation of the activities contained in the Cosmic Visions Technology Plan Provide support to the development of the technologies required for the future ESA science missions as defined in the Cosmic Visions Programme TDAs documentation preparation Statement of Work, technical requirements and technical followup Provide support to the technology planning and the production of Technology Development Plans for future missions, themes and systems Assist in the coordination of technology developments and planning across ESA and with external parties Contribute to the implementation of TDAs Support future mission assessment and advanced studies in areas related to advanced technologies Participate in technical reviews and working groups Qualifications Experience The nature of the service to be provided requires that the key service personnel possess a wide spectrum knowledge in engineering physics, with a natural inclination for understanding new technologies. The key service personnel should have several years of experience in the development of advanced technologies, preferably for space applications. Management experience with industrial contract exposure is an important asset. Knowledge of advanced optics, novel sensors and materials, power generation, thermal protection and cryogenics is required. The key service personnel will be expected to technically follow technology development contracts. The planning of the implementation of technology developments and the reporting on ongoing activities will form an important key service aspect. He will be assigned to the Electra Project where he will be required to monitor the design, the development, the verification and the maintenance of all the software elements of the Electra project. Duties will include but are not limited to Technical and programmatic management of the software products of the satellite project, namely SCSW, SVF, SRDB and DSSS Supervision of the development, implementation and verification from Unit to IntegratedSystem and including requirements definition Monitoring the coherent implementation of the Software products requirements verification plan through test plans, test specifications, test reports and Verification Control Documents Support the definition and execution of tests and verification programmes at spacecraft level throughout the environmental test and launch campaigns, including LEOP and IOT phases Participation in the Project Agency level Reviews and as well as lower level reviews in the relevant fields of technical responsibility Support the definition and execution of tests and verification programmes of the Operational Products for LEOP, IOT and OnStation Operations Monitoring the schedule and risks of the software products activities.
