In order to cope with the growing demand for effective IT infrastructure and services provision, a new data centre has been put into operation. This new facility also allows consolidating the various server rooms into one, centrally managed data centre. Within a data centre environment it is important to develop a holistic strategy and management approach to the data centre. This will enable the owner of the facility to effectively deliver reliability, economic, utilisation and environmental benefits. In line with the IT Departments initiative to provide and harmonise the wide data centre infrastructure and capacity management, your main tasks will be to ensure the effective daytoday data centre management. Tasks and Activities The scope of work is divided in 3 parts Data Centre Management Ensure all deployments are installed to applicable internal, manufacture and industry standards. Provide smart hands problem solving support server reboots, backups, visual inspections etc. Monitor and followup the data centre routine activities, including coordinating of changes and incidents. Perform compliance and risk analysis of data centre activities and manage escalations Distribute and communicate to all teams relevant information to optimize efficiency and minimize risks in data centre activities Ensure that everything in data centre is in line with approved procedures and raise corrective actions when needed Make post implementation reviews and lessonslearnt analysis Perform the continuous evaluation of processes and coordination activities looking for improvements Analyse interlock and dependencies between processes Detect on a regular basis any missing procedures and update when needed Data Collection and Documentation using a DCIM tool based on open source software. Populate the DCIM tool with the necessary. A reasonable effort shall be made to capture all data for each device and supporting EM infrastructures. Device data shall be captured for each device, rackmounted or freestanding. Keep the data inside the DCIM tool always accurate, ensuring that all existing DCIM records are updated following any changes made and that documentation is also kept up to date for all processes Data Centre Consolidation and Optimisation To support the Data Centre Manager in consolidation of various server rooms into one facility. Achieve this task in the most efficient way possible Minimising the impact on IT service consolidation, move of existing services to the ESA Virtual Environment ESACloud and decommissioning of obsolete components. Skills and Experience Hold a relevant technical qualification in the field of IT Systems or Network Engineering ITIL Service Lifecycle Foundation, CNET Data Centre Certification would be an asset Experience in the management, operation and maintenance of critical data center IT systems and understands the full range of ME equipment in a modern critical data center environment At least 5 years experience with service delivery and management in the areas of Data Centers and Data Centre Infrastructure Management Passive IT Infrastructures, Data Cabling Plants Server, Storage and Networking Infrastructures Professional and strategic approach to management of works and projects Analytical skills to interpret client requirements and produce desired results Ability to work under pressure Customer focused and respectful to promote healthy working relationship Promotes high level of team working and development of team spirit Sound knowledge of all aspects of Health Safety How to Apply Looking to take your career to the next level? Equinix sells data centre assets for USD 874 mln

(Telecompaper) Data centre operator Equinix has sold eight European data centre assets to Digital Realty Trust for USD 874 million. The sale of the data center assets was required by the European Commission as part of its approval of Equinix's purchase of TelecityGroup, which closed in January. Equinix has also agreed to buy, for EUR 189.7 million, Digital Realty's operating business in St Denis, Paris, including its real estate and data centre facility, which currently house Equinix's PA2 and PA3 International Business Exchange (IBX) data centers. The Paris deal, still subject to certain customary formalities, is expected to close in Q3.
