Data centre, enterprise SDN market to grow 15-fold by 2019

(Telecompaper) In-use software-defined networking (SDN) market (Ethernet switches and controllers) will reach USD 13 billion in 2019, up from USD 781 million in 2014, as the availability of branded bare metal switches and use of SDN by enterprises and smaller cloud service providers (CSPs) drive growth, according to a research by IHS. The SDN market is still forming, and the top market share slots will change hands frequently, but currently the segment leaders are Dell, HP, VMware and White Box, according to researchers.

RHEA is currently recruiting a Data Centre Software Engineer to support our maintenance activities within the software development team in Harwell, UK. Tasks and Activities To setup the maintenance of the Data Centre Software applications from ESA. To develop, collect, organise all relevant software, documentation and tools that will be require by the maintenance team, as agreed with the program manager. To setup the technical hardware, software, network, etc., management and administrative environments required for providing the maintenance. To support the maintenance team training and familiarise the team with the tools and documentation for providing the maintenance activity. To provide corrective maintenance of the applications hosted in the Data Centre. To provide 2nd level maintenance support of application and data installed within the Data Centre. Responsible for fully addressing all software problem reports raised on a set of particular software applications agreed with the agency, including testing and validation. To implement editorial content updates for the Data Centre user portal. To support phaseout activities at the end of the contract. Skills and Experience You have at least a bachelor degree in Computer Sciences, Physics, Engineering or equivalent You have at least 1 years of experience working in a software development environment. You must have hands on development experience in Java and Javascript. Administrator level experience of SUSE Linux. Experience in the following would be advantageous JSP , CSS, HTML, PHP XML, VTL, Apache, Tomcat, Liferay Oracle DB, MySQL IDL, Matlab, Python and other scientific programmimg languages such as Fortran, C, Knowledge of standard test methodologies would be an advantage.
