The Linux Foundation earlier this week announced the addition of the JS Foundation as a Linux Foundation project. The move is an effort to inject new energy into the JavaScript developer community. By rebranding the former JQuery foundation as the JS Foundation and bringing it under the Linux umbrella, officials hope to create some stability and build critical mass.

Linux System Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities The key person shall support the Computer and Storage Management team, in areas of Ground Segment implementation, commissioning and routine operations. You will have the following tasks Installation and configuration of operating system and other software, tuning of operating systems parameters to optimize performance Analysis, planning and performance of HW and SW upgrades or reconfigurations, taking care of compatibility issues between subsystems Monitoring of the system performance, investigation into HW and system SW problems and performance of the relevant corrective actions Ensuring that in case of HW or system SW failures the operational configuration can be restored, including the definition, maintenance, performance of backup procedures Liaison with the external providers of HW and system SW maintenance for the request and follow up of maintenance interventions Administration of user accounts Support to SW development and maintenance in relation to the utilization of system resources Implementation and maintenance of scripts andor procedures where applicable for the automated andor controlled execution of the above activities, generation or update of technical documentation in relation to system upgrades Provision of standbyoncall support Provision of support, as required, to critical operations. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree or equivalent, including experience in relevant field Experience in the administration and troubleshooting of distributed systems Expert knowledge and a significant work experience of Linux operating systems Redhat and SLES Very good IT system design skills, good experience in VMware virtualization Good understanding of incident and problem management, technical documentation skills High Availability software like Sun Cluster, Veritas Cluster or any other Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
