Senior Controller, Spacecraft Operations O3b Ref SES0621 Region Europe Location Luxembourg Betzdorf Company SES Category Space Operations Position Staff Published 20150626 Context The Senior Spacecraft Controller is responsible for monitoring and control of the O3b constellation in order to maintain its health. In particular, the Senior Spacecraft Controller will need to react to emergencies within approved guidelines and escalate appropriately when needed. The incumbent will also be following regular training sessions and assessment. To ensure 24 hour coverage of the position, the controller will be required to work shifts. Responsibilities Perform daily operations of spacecraft in accordance with approved procedures and the daily operations plan Command the spacecraft and monitoring satellite health Perform routine operations telemetry dumps, AOSLOS from the different ground stations, upload payload daily mission, eclipses, table uploads, etc. React to emergencies within approved guidelines and notify appropriate staff based on escalation procedure Perform offline data analysis Attend regular refresher training sessions in order to maintain a certification level required to perform functions via regular assessment Rehearse on the simulator established nominal and contingency procedures Interface with the Network Operation Center. Experience Qualifications A technicalengineering degree in electronics, aeronautics or equivalent qualifications Experience in satellite operations and ground control systems would be an advantage Experience in LEO or MEO environment would be an advantage Willingness to work on shift Excellent operational mindset and awareness Good analytical skills Errorfree performance in high stress situations Excellent written and oral communication skills in English Flexibility, reliability and readiness to work without direct supervision Excellent team spirit Openminded Valid work permit is considered as an advantage. The Key person shall work in the Operations and Services to Users Department as part of the Meteosat Satellite Operations Team in the FLO Division and heshe shall report to the Platform Team Leader inside the Meteosat Satellite Operations Team. The Key person shall support the platform routine operations of the inorbit MSG satellites and the operations preparation for the platform subsystems of MSG4. At a later stage and as required, the Key person will support the Operations Preparations of the MTG satellites. The tasks of the Key person will be carried out mainly at EUMETSAT facilities in Darmstadt, but travel within Europe may be required for certain activities. TASKS EUMETSAT will specify in advance, on a work package basis, the required support. The work packages will typically cover a period of three months and will be mutually agreed before the start of the period. The Key person will be integrated in the Meteosat Spacecraft Operations Team.
