Global pay-TV revenues to fall 11% by 2023 - study

(Telecompaper) Global pay-TV revenues are set to plummet by 11 percent to USD 183 billion by 2023 after reaching a peak of USD 205 billion in 2016, according to the latest study by Digital TV Research, covering 138 countries. The decline in revenues over the next 5 years will be due above all to more and more homes converting to bundles and will come in spite of an expected 9 percent rise in the number of pay-TV subscribers by 2023, said the report.

Dutch pay-TV market decline to accelerate in 2018

(Telecompaper) The number of connections on the Dutch television market fell by 0.1 percent in 2017 to 7.48 million, according to a report from Telecompaper about the Dutch television market in the fourth quarter. Growth in IPTV via DSL and fibre was not able to offset the decline in traditional TV broadcasting (cable, satellite and Digitenne). For 2018, Telecompaper expects a decrease of 1 percent in the number of connections.

OSN first pay-TV operator in Middle East to provide Netflix access

(Telecompaper) Middle Eastern pay-TV operator OSN has signed the first partnership deal in the region with Netflix. Soon, OSN customers will be able to access Netflix' library via a new OSN Box due for launch towards the end of the second quarter. They will have the flexibility to pay for their Netflix subscription via one consolidated OSN bill.
