A vacancy for a Control Centre Chain Integration and Validation Engineer mf has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space at its Toulouse site. The successful candidate will join the Control Centres department. You will join the Mission, Control and RF ground segment chains department within the Airbus Defence and SpaceSpace Systems EngineeringFunctional Chains directorate. You have an initial experience in the integration and validation of software components. Within the Control Ground Segment Chain centre, you will participate in the integration, verification and validation of various software components TMTC kernel, operational software components, etc. of the functional control chain of Earth observation satellites and telecommunication satellites. Depending on the project, you will also be in charge of engineering and of carrying out of the deployment and interpretation of these control segments. A demanding technical environment realtime, distributed architecture, reliability and the necessary knowledge of disciplines will allow you to fully demonstrate your organisational and communication skills and your meticulous approach. You will assist ground segments until the generation of revenue on operational sites. Within the framework of the proposed position, your tasks will include Defining and then implementing a deployment strategy initial version and updates Defining and implementing a ground segment interpretation strategy systems and subsystems Defining and implementing a backuprestoration strategy for software and hardware components Defining integration, verification and validation IVV plans, procedures and data Leading the IVV phases in the Airbus Defence and Space Toulouse premises and at customer sites Being in charge of the onsite installation, deployment and revenue generation phases with the final customer Preparing and carrying out the training of final users at the customer site Supporting the project during Technical and Operational Qualification, Satellite Positioning, and InOrbit Tests Participating in the maintenance of ground segment operational conditions during the assurancemaintenance phases This position will involve frequent business trips abroad about four yearly business trip, representing a period of two weeks per year, this will allow you to have direct contact with the final customer. LOCATION ESTEC, Noordwijk Netherlands with resident assignment to the Galileo Control Centre in Oberpfaffenhofen Germany. DUTIES Reporting to the Head of Unit, the Manager will be the ESA operations authority at the Galileo Control Centre GCC following spacecraft command control handover, responsible for the preparation and execution of routine Galileo spacecraft operations in support of service provision. The postholder will in particular be responsible for evaluating the status of the Galileo constellation operations and early service provision, interfacing the Galileo Operations Services Contractor for ensuring the preparation and execution of operations and service plans assessing, in the case of major contingencies, whether the mission objectives can be met or assisting with declaring the mission impacted if required coordinating with that Contractor the implementation of the mission rules for handling the Galileo navigation message and managing the early services defining, in coordination with the Contractor, the priorities for resolution of anomalies, following the relevant ESA mission rules participating in spacecraft anomaly review boards, supporting the evaluation and authorisation of any recovery action required contributing to ESA operations system management board longterm planning activities by providing inputs and evaluations on constellation, mission and systemrelated operations supporting the evaluation of the GCC operations processes and organisation, providing recommendations on improvement participating on Galileorelated review panels, evaluations boards as required. This work requires frequent travel within Europe and interaction with industry representatives at all levels. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or physics, together with proven sound professional experience of the deployment and operations of spacebased applications. Candidates should be systemminded and able to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Furthermore, they should show a high level of selfmotivation and discipline, and be resultsoriented. Experience with satellite navigation systems e.g. GPS, Galileo is considered an asset. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required together with a working knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of another member state language is an asset.
